Under general supervision, provides a variety of routine to somewhat complex clerical support, financial, and administrative duties which may include receptionist, word processing, data entry, record keeping, filing duties, converts source documents (both paper and electronic) into electronic indexed records; files, accesses, retrieves, transfers, prepares, images and disposes of organization records, monitors inmates via video and line of site, communicating with inmates via intercom and limited in person contact, and performs errands of an official nature for staff in support of the Detention Division. This position is distinguished from other Administrative Support class series by not only providing a variety of standard administrative and clerical support for the Detention Facility's administrative function but has limited direct and indirect contact and interaction with incarcerated individuals as well as the performance of the most complex and/or specialized office support responsibilities related to a Detention Facility. Additionally, this level is distinguished by the responsibility for project-related work. This position has greater independence with day-to-day duties and assignments which require greater depth of knowledge regarding the organization. At this level, guidelines are available, but judgment is required to apply them effectively to the specific situation. This position is intended as a transitional position for those that want to become a sworn law enforcement officer upon meeting minimum criteria.
