About The Position

Southwestern Behavioral Healthcare is looking for compassionate and dedicated Full-Time and Part-time Peer Support Specialists to join our Jail-based team. If you're passionate about supporting individuals on their recovery journey and making a meaningful impact during a critical time of change, we want to hear from you. Please note: Weekend availability is required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Certification preferred; eligibility required.
• To be considered certified, must have either: Indiana Certified Peer Support Professional (CPSP-DMHA), or Certified Peer Recovery Coach (CPRC-A or CPRC – ICAADA)

• Valid driver’s license and required insurance
• All candidates must undergo required background checks and a drug screen. Findings are evaluated in accordance with applicable laws, VCS policy and organizational policy and do not automatically disqualify applicants.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals with substance use disorders as they prepare for recovery and community reentry.
• Engage individuals early during booking and intake to identify recovery support needs.
• Provide one-on-one coaching and advocacy within the Vanderburgh County Jail using a person-centered, trauma-informed approach
• Connect participants with treatment, recovery, and community resources.
• Assist with reentry planning to promote successful transitions back into the community.
