About The Position

We are seeking a Sr ITS Analyst I to join our ITS Practice in Edison, NJ. Your role Assignments have clear and specified objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables. Duties usually include the following: Conduct traffic engineering studies, which may include intersection studies, corridor studies, sight distance studies, and road safety audits. Tasks include crash analysis, site visits to collect field data, traffic modeling with Synchro/SIDRA, intersection control evaluations, countermeasure identification, application of appropriate crash modification factors, benefit-cost analysis, and safety project proposals. Designs and develops plans and drawings, which may include the development of preliminary layout and/or final drawings for ITS/Traffic design projects and Traffic studies. Specifically, our work includes traffic signal design, fiber optic communications cable routing and splicing, utility coordination, signing and pavement marking design, traffic safety studies, railroad crossing safety, traffic modeling, and more. Applies general ITS planning, operational, and engineering principles to solve specific ITS-related problems. Collaborates in the design and development of ITS concepts, including requirements analysis, technology review and selection, operational concepts development and communication, specification development, testing, and commissioning. Organizes and conducts engineering investigations and planning work which have a well-defined scope. Outlines and prepares relatively straightforward sections of more complex reports, working under the periodic review of a more experienced professional. Provides engineering services during construction activities by reviewing shop drawings for conformance with specifications; prepares records and progress reports defining construction progress; observes construction procedures under the guidance of a more experienced professional and evaluates the results from quality control testing. Researches feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, technology capabilities, cost benefits, and client/regulatory agency specifications. Writes reports, participates in presentations, contributes to the development of specifications and permit applications and develops miscellaneous reports. Prepares preliminary man-hour, cost and material quantity estimates. Performs work that involves the application of leading-edge information and communication technologies to transportation planning, engineering, and operations. Conducts investigations, surveys, requirements definition and technology reviews in the process of carrying out diversified projects or phases of a single project with a number of complex features, requiring the use of analysis, interpretation, and deductive reasoning. Participates in quality control checks, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, checking computations, and/or reviewing designs and drawings created by others. Coordinates with other disciplines as required. Performs field observations of construction where appropriate. Performs other such duties deemed necessary by the supervisor(s).

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering or an ITS-related subject such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Transportation Planning, Economics, Business, Law or Information Technology.
  • 4 years' experience since B.S. or 3 years since M.S.
  • 5 to 6 years' experience since bachelor’s degree.
  • Technical writing, computer and communications skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • CAD, MicroStation skills preferred.
  • E.I. or EIT is desired.
