Part Time Faculty, Italian Language Instructor
About The Position
The Vocal Arts Department at Boston Conservatory at Berklee is seeking a part-time faculty member to teach Italian Language Fluency. This role is ideal for a motivated and creative professional with a proven record of teaching excellence, who thrives in a diverse and multicultural campus environment. The position requires native or near-native proficiency in both Italian and English. It is a 9-month, renewable contract position, commencing September 1, 2026. Compensation and rank will be determined by professional experience. The Modern Languages program within the Voice Department offers specialized courses in Italian, German, and French for undergraduate and graduate students pursuing classical singing degrees. The curriculum emphasizes language acquisition, fluency, grammar, vocabulary expansion, and cultural exposure.
Requirements
- MA in Italian, comparative literature or a closely related field is required
- Minimum 3 years teaching Italian Language in accredited higher education institution
- Demonstrated ability to teach effectively Italian language and content courses, embrace new pedagogies, and inspire students
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in Italian and English
- Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and students
- Experience and willingness to work within a diverse faculty and student body
Nice To Haves
- Two letters of recommendation are preferred but not required
- One video demonstration of a lecture presentation in a class setting is preferred but not required. Video(s) must be submitted via website link(s). (YouTube unlisted, Vimeo, etc.)
Responsibilities
- Responsible for teaching 2-3 courses per semester in Italian Language at the undergraduate and graduate levels
- Advise and guide students to resources that assist in their learning, development, and wellness
- Maintain a presence on campus
- Participate in Voice Department faculty meetings and committees
