About The Position

Applies basic knowledge of principles, theories, concepts and industry practices and standard in the area of developing, writing, organizing, and maintaining documentation that supports an organization’s technology environment to include creating end‑user guides, IT policies, standard operating procedures, troubleshooting instructions, and knowledge‑base content. Collaborates with IT subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather information, document processes to ensure accuracy in workflows and system environments.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 Year / Bachelors Degree. IT, general business or other related discipline
  • If applicable, a combination of experience and training may be substituted for the education requirement.
  • 0 - 3 or more year(s) Technical writing and/or training and documentation specializing, analyzing
  • Communicate effectively using electronic media and in written and verbal forms.
  • Make telephone and direct personal contact with internal and external personnel and make formal presentations to small or large groups.
  • Competent in the use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong writing and editing skills; attention to detail, ensuring content is up to date, i.e. IT policies and procedures
  • Strong organizational skills, reliable and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Able to learn new tools quickly and explain them clearly, simply and concisely.
  • Ability to create user-friendly, step-by-step work instructions and documentation with screenshots, training guides and other written documentation.
  • Ability to maintain knowledge bases, documentation libraries and version control.

Responsibilities

  • Supports development of solutions to problems of limited scope and complexity requiring judgment and ingenuity, working within established standard and procedures relative to developing, writing, organizing and maintaining documentation for the Information Technology (IT) organization.
  • Work is closely monitored and results reviewed for accuracy and adequacy.
  • Responsible to support end-user Guides and Trainings, IT Policies, Procedures, and Work Step Instructions, IT PMS (Content and Library Management).
  • Write and publish user-facing documents such as: How-to guides, set-up instructions, quick reference guides, FAQs and simple troubleshooting steps, Work instructions and standard work processes.
  • Work with subject matter experts (SMEs) to capture: Step-by-step process, screenshots, common mistakes, and tips.
  • Create content that is simple and consistent: Plain language, clear steps, and helpful visuals Via company templates and branding.
  • Publish and communicate updates in approved knowledge, training (LMS) system.
  • Create and/or update IT policy documents, as assigned.
  • Convert policy into usable procedures and work instructions.
  • Manage approvals, version control, and review dates with IT leadership; organize, tag, and maintain the documentation library.
  • Ensure content remains current, up to date through periodic reviews and retiring outdated content.
  • Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment.
