About The Position

The Technical Writer I is responsible for taking complex, technical information and translating it into an easily understandable format, per customer guidelines. This role w ill w ork closely with experienced writers and other internal employees to interpret contractual specifications, engineering drawings, reports, and other data to help produce technical documentation . This role i nterfaces with customer and/ or customer’s representatives throughout project, as required .

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is
  • Associate degree in a technical or mechanical field or equivalent work experience is
  • Zero to two ( 0 - 2 ) years of experience in a mechanical, technical , or writing field writing complete, complex technical documents, including organizing the document and working with internal and external personnel ( e.g., agencies, customer)
  • Basic level of proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel is preferred
  • Basic level of proficiency with d e sktop publishing tools is preferred
  • Basic technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, and/ or aerona utical systems is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of related fields, including illustrating, provisioning , and logistic support analysis is preferred
  • Valid driver’s license in state of residency with acceptable driving record is preferred
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • W rit e s technical documents/manuals according to specifications for customer
  • C omplet e s assignments according to company policies and procedures
  • Research es existing data to maximize use of previously developed text and/or illustrations
  • Draft s text materials to ensure text and illustrations are completed and coordinated per final product requirements
  • D ocument s and archiv e s technical data over long periods in an efficient, established method to aid in future related projects
  • T rack s and record s time spent on projects
  • C ommunicat e s status of work to management and any needs for additional information, technical procedures, etc.
  • C omplet e s assigned tasks according to established deadlines and customer specifications and company policies and procedures
  • Perform s any other job - related instructions, as requested with reasonable accommodation
