•$325,000 - $360,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Anthropic is hiring an IT Systems Engineer to own ChromeOS as a supported platform for vendor and business process outsourcing (BPO) teams that need access to Anthropic systems. The Endpoint team manages employee devices and their supporting infrastructure as a distributed platform, with configuration delivered as code through pull requests, CI, staging, and canary releases. This role will define ChromeOS standards and platform decisions, manage the lifecycle of Anthropic-owned Chromebooks issued to vendor staff, and help bring Android into the managed fleet as a second platform. The role spans device purchasing and international shipping, zero-touch enrollment, Google Admin and Chrome Enterprise configuration, policy automation, security controls, telemetry, and device retirement. The engineer will collaborate with IT Operations, procurement, Corporate Security, and vendor partners to establish secure and repeatable device programs across countries. The team is lean and highly autonomous, and expects product engineering rigor, clear documentation, and ownership of ambiguous, cross-functional problems.

Requirements

  • Experience owning ChromeOS as a platform for a fleet of thousands of devices.
  • Strong knowledge of the Google Admin console and Chrome Enterprise, including organizational unit design, device and user policy, enrollment, and reporting.
  • Experience automating ChromeOS policy through the Chrome Policy API or GAM.
  • Experience running kiosk, managed guest, or shared-device programs for frontline, contact center, or outsourced teams.
  • Experience setting up zero-touch enrollment with resellers and shipping devices across several countries.
  • Working knowledge of Android device management and ability to work in a mixed fleet.
  • Ability to excel at ambiguous problems involving several teams.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to varied audiences, including vendor partners.
  • A product-engineering-rigor approach to IT Engineering.
  • Habit of writing clear documentation.
  • Python and shell scripting skills.
  • ChromeOS management experience using the Google Admin console and Chrome Enterprise.
  • Experience with the Google Admin SDK, Chrome Policy API, and GAM for policy and reporting automation.
  • Working knowledge of Android Enterprise management.
  • Ability to query live device state at fleet scale.
  • GitOps and CI skills for configuration management.
  • Knowledge of endpoint security fundamentals.
  • At least a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • A field of study relevant to the role, demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing device configuration as code using pull requests, CI, and staged rollouts instead of console-based changes.
  • Experience managing ChromeOS alongside macOS or mobile fleets.
  • Experience using VDI or browser-based access to keep data off devices used by outsourced teams.
  • Experience supporting BPO or vendor programs through rapid growth into new regions.
  • Experience building automated progressive rollout systems with promotion gated on telemetry.
  • Experience using LLMs to automate operational work, or enthusiasm for using Claude as a teammate.

Responsibilities

  • Own ChromeOS as a platform at Anthropic, including device standards, Google Admin console and Chrome Enterprise setup, organizational unit design, and policy.
  • Manage ChromeOS policy as code through the Chrome Policy API, GAM, and Terraform in the team's configuration-as-code pipeline, with reviewed, tested, and progressively rolled-out changes.
  • Build zero-touch enrollment through resellers so Chromebooks arrive enrolled and ready to use in the countries where vendor partners operate.
  • Coordinate with IT Operations and procurement partners on international device purchasing and shipping, including regions not served by current partners.
  • Design device models for vendor teams, including kiosk, managed guest session, shared-device, and assigned-device configurations, and select the appropriate model for each program.
  • Restrict devices to what work requires by controlling copy and paste, downloads, printing, USB, apps, and extensions.
  • Own vendor fleet device lifecycles, including enrollment, wipe, lock, and retrieval when engagements end.
  • Feed ChromeOS device data into fleet telemetry and track check-ins, OS versions, and differences between expected and actual state.
  • Partner with Corporate Security on hardware standards, including Verified Access attestation and minimum AUE date, device trust signals, and access decisions.
  • Work with Security on contractor access models and keeping Anthropic data off vendor devices.
  • Run data-loss controls through Chrome Enterprise Premium.
  • Work with Security on the vendor identity model, including which accounts vendor staff use and in which tenant.
  • Support Android as a second platform by working with the corporate mobile program on Android Enterprise and zero-touch enrollment.
  • Write runbooks for IT Operations and vendor partners to use when standing up new programs.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and benefits.
  • Optional equity donation matching.
  • Generous vacation and parental leave.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Office space for collaborating with colleagues.
