The Office of Information Technology's goals are to Reduce Complexity, Improve Efficiency, and Encourage Creativity in order to securely provide better government services to all Alaskans. The OIT/Knowledge Management/Automations section works as a team with Network Services (NS), Data Center, Policy, Strategy & Agency Services, and the State Security Office (SSO) to keep departments technologically operational and secure. They will also be working very closely with department Tier 2 staff and other OIT sections. AlaskaNow Knowledge Management/Automations go-to for establishing and guiding publishing standards for Enterprise and Departmental level articles and will maintain lifecycles of said articles by coordinating with departments to update or archive them. Rebuild and maintain the Knowledge Bases and promote their use for all the State of Alaska departments as a standard for all how-to guides, articles, etc. Establish standardized processes that can be automated for ease of use, simplification, reduction of manual steps to reduce common errors, and improving overall efficiency. Regularly partake in meetings with departmental representatives to determine required or wanted automated processes, take part in developing them, and ensure their successful integration in the appropriate systems.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of specifications, uses, and types of computer or computer-related equipment.
  • Knowledge of the architecture and typology of software, hardware, and networks, including LANS, WANS, and telecommunications systems, their components and associated protocols and standards, and how they operate and integrate with one another and with associated controlling software.
  • Knowledge of computer network, desktop, and mainframe operating systems and their applications.
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, and procedures for installing, integrating, and optimizing information systems components.
  • Training in computer science, information technology, or system administration – or a similar field or professional experience – that provided knowledge of systems, networking software, hardware, protocols, and scripting/automation tools.
  • Ability to use information technology in accessing, collecting, analyzing, maintaining, and disseminating data and information.
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools (for example, surveys, system performance measures) to assess the effectiveness and practicality of information technology systems.
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, and procedures used for the automated control of a process, including the design, development, and maintenance of associated software, hardware, and systems.
  • Must be an Alaska Resident.
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) for APSIN use.
