About The Position

This position is responsible for performing routine computer maintenance and repair. The role involves receiving, unloading, and securing IT resources, processing retired IT assets, maintaining inventory, and leading student workers. The technician will perform computer maintenance and repair, including hardware and software installation, de-installation, and troubleshooting. They will also set up, install, configure, test, move, and decommission computers and peripherals, and connect devices to college networks, testing connectivity.

Requirements

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
• Good communication and the ability to maintain accurate records and keep college assets secure.
• Experience installing and removing hardware and software.
• Experience with diagnosing and repairing minor hardware and software issues.
• Completion of a criminal history background check prior to employment.
• Ability to lift/move computer equipment weighing up to 30 lbs., using proper lifting techniques.

• Able to communicate effectively, understand and follow instructions and prescribed procedures, and meet the demands of the department.

Responsibilities

• Receive, unload, and secure IT resources such as desktops, laptops and monitors.
• Process retired IT assets such as desktops, laptops and monitors.
• Coordinate with receiving department for proper procedures and removal.
• Maintain detailed and accurate inventory of incoming and outgoing equipment.
• Lead and provide instruction to student workers on small to moderate sized tasks.
• Perform computer maintenance and repair, including but not limited to hardware and software installation, de-installation and troubleshooting.
• Setup, install, configure, test, move and decommission computers and peripherals according to accepted policies and procedures.
• Connect devices to the college networks, including testing network connectivity.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
