About The Position

The IT Support & Systems Specialist provides advanced (Level 2) technical support to end users while building hands-on experience supporting the firm's network, systems, and application environment. This role provides dependable backup coverage for the service desk and assists the Systems Administrator with routine network, infrastructure, and application maintenance tasks. This position is focused on hands-on user support, technology maintenance, and helping the firm adopt new tools and systems. It is not a project management role: this person contributes to technology initiatives as a technical team member but does not own or lead projects. The ideal candidate is a dependable, curious technologist who enjoys solving user problems, wants to grow into broader systems administration responsibilities over time, and is comfortable picking up new tools and technologies quickly.

Requirements

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience in IT support, service desk, or systems support, with demonstrated Level 2 troubleshooting ability.
  • Some exposure to network or systems administration tasks preferred (e.g., account administration, patching, basic network troubleshooting).
  • Experience working with or alongside an IT Managed Service Provider is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Windows 10/11, Windows Server, Active Directory/Entra ID, and Microsoft 365.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Intune preferred.
  • General understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Familiarity with servers, cloud environments, backups, patching, and system monitoring.
  • Interest in developing scripting/automation skills (e.g., PowerShell) is a plus.
  • General understanding of cybersecurity and technology security best practices.
  • Strong client-service orientation and interpersonal skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple tickets, tasks, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and willingness to learn new tools and technologies.
  • Availability for occasional after-hours support or planned technology maintenance as needed.
  • Ability to lift and transport computers and related equipment as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with or alongside an IT Managed Service Provider is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Intune preferred.
  • Interest in developing scripting/automation skills (e.g., PowerShell) is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications are beneficial but not required and may include: CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+; Microsoft 365 or Azure Fundamentals certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an escalation point for Level 1 technicians and provide advanced troubleshooting for hardware, software, network, and application issues.
  • Provide backup coverage for front-line ticket queues and user requests during peak volume, staff absences, or as scheduled.
  • Maintain ownership of assigned tickets through resolution, documenting root cause, resolution steps, and follow-up actions in the help desk system.
  • Provide day-to-day support to end users for hardware, software, mobile devices, printers, and standard business applications.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining troubleshooting guides, FAQs, and knowledge base articles.
  • Deliver a high level of customer service and clear communication throughout the resolution process.
  • Assist the Systems Administrator with day-to-day administration of servers, workstations, networks, printers, and cloud services.
  • Support routine network maintenance tasks, including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Assist with user account administration, access provisioning, and device configuration in Microsoft 365, Entra ID/Active Directory, and Microsoft Intune.
  • Help monitor systems, networks, and backups, and assist in identifying and resolving routine operational issues.
  • Assist with patching, software deployment, and other routine system maintenance activities.
  • Help maintain accurate technical documentation, system configurations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Escalate complex infrastructure, network, or security issues to the Systems Administrator or outside technology partners as appropriate.
  • Provide first-line support and troubleshooting for the firm's core business applications.
  • Assist with the rollout, configuration, and testing of new applications, tools, and system updates.
  • Help train and support end users as new tools and technologies are introduced, including creating quick-reference guides.
  • Stay current on new features and capabilities within the firm's technology stack and proactively share relevant updates with the team.
  • Identify recurring issues or training gaps and recommend improvements to tools, processes, or documentation.
  • Assist with assigned technology projects and tasks as directed, such as testing, data validation, or coordinating a specific step within a larger initiative.
  • Help track assigned action items and follow up as needed to keep small tasks moving.
  • Support process improvement efforts within the service desk and systems administration functions.
