About The Position

Florida Blue's Remote IT Summer Internship program is designed to give college juniors, seniors, and graduate students a hands-on look at our business processes and the tech systems that power them. You'll work on real projects, get on-the-job training, and partner with a mentor from your track-specific team. In addition to your daily responsibilities, you'll have opportunities to: Meet with leaders from all domains within the Tech organization. Engage with Executive Tech Leadership throughout the program. Present to Florida Blue's CIO and Tech Vice Presidents at the program's conclusion. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in computer science, information technology, mathematics, psychology, or related degree program as a Junior or Senior student at an accredited college/university.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
  • Must be able to commit to working at least 30 hours a week.
  • Basic PC skills required including working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Basic programming knowledge, JavaScript/HTML/CSS or other Object Oriented programming experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; team and collaboration-oriented.
  • Work under minimal supervision and adapt to a dynamic, changing environment.
  • Must be a creative and innovative thinker.
  • A strong foundation in how large language models work, including prompting techniques, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agentic/tool-use patterns (Generative AI track).
  • Experience with LLM APIs and application frameworks (e.g., LangChain, or similar orchestration tools); experience with open-source or commercial models is a plus (Generative AI track).
  • Proficiency in Python; familiarity with ML/DL frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch is a plus but not required (Generative AI track).
  • Data manipulation and statistical analysis skills (Generative AI track).
  • Curiosity about responsible and effective AI adoption — how to evaluate, govern, and scale AI solutions in a business setting, not just build them (Generative AI track).
  • A passion for generative AI that drives you to push boundaries and explore new possibilities (Generative AI track).
  • A knack for designing, implementing, and troubleshooting technology (Infrastructure track).
  • Experience in monitoring and maintaining complex systems (Infrastructure track).

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Computational Biology (Data Science track).
  • Skilled in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL (Data Science track).
  • Analytical, detailed, and able to work with large datasets (Data Science track).
  • Taking high-level computer science and math courses, such as Data Structures and Algorithms, Calculus I, Probability and Statistics, Linear Algebra, Calculus II (Data Science track).
  • Strong programming skills in languages like Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Python, or Swift (Application Development track).
  • Knowledge of database management systems such as MySQL, MongoDB, or PostgreSQL (Application Development track).
  • Experience with version control systems like Git (Application Development track).
  • Experience with front-end frameworks such as React or Angular (Application Development track).
  • Familiarity with back-end frameworks such as Node.js (Application Development track).
  • A finger on the pulse of current technology trends and a desire to stay ahead of the curve (Application Development track).
  • A strong understanding of business operations and processes (Business Analyst track).
