About The Position

We are looking for an IT Specialist to support the day-to-day technology experience of our employees. This is an internal-facing role focused on service desk support, onboarding and offboarding, workstation provisioning, Microsoft 365 support, and asset management in a structured, ticket-driven environment. This is an onsite position at Red Cat’s FlightWave facility in Carson, California. Some support may require travel to the San Diego, Apium facility as well. The IT Specialist will assist in maintaining Red Cat’s IT infrastructure—ensuring performance, security, and user support. Serving as the IT Department’s head representative to FlightWave, this hands-on role includes technical troubleshooting, onboarding/offboarding, system upkeep, and collaborating with senior IT staff to improve processes and maintain compliance. While this role will work from California, much of Red Cat’s staff is remote and located throughout the United States. This role will assist FlightWave, Apium, Teal Drones, Blue Ops, Red Cat and other business divisions as needed. You will help ensure employees have the devices, access, and support they need to do their best work, while partnering with more senior IT teammates on escalations and process improvements. In a fast-scaling company, this role is equal parts troubleshooting, follow-through, documentation, and customer service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or 7 years relevant experience
  • Demonstrated ability to handle Tier 1 and Tier 2 support tasks independently, escalate when appropriate, and clearly document troubleshooting steps
  • Expertise in Windows and basic proficiency with Linux operating systems at an administrative level, including user profile management, system updates, configuration, and debugging of applications
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset, solid written and verbal communication, and a customer-service approach that is calm, responsive, and respectful with non-technical users.
  • Comfort working in a structured, ticket-driven workflow with clear documentation, queue discipline, and appropriate escalation.
  • Experience with identity and access management in Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and/or Active Directory environments
  • Knowledge of Network protocols and services such as TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP
  • Ability to support hardware logistics, including receiving, setting up, moving, and shipping laptops and accessories for employees.
  • Exposure to remote support tools, asset-tracking systems, laptop shipping workflows, or SaaS identity/access administration.

Nice To Haves

  • Comfortable creating and using PowerShell or Python scripting to automate repeatable processes
  • Direct experience with security frameworks such as CMMC, HIPAA, or PCI, and the role IT plays in compliance
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Proxmox, with the ability to support basic administrative tasks
  • Prior experience supporting IT in industries such as defense, aerospace, manufacturing, engineering, or regulated technical environments
  • CompTIA A+ or similar entry-level certification; Microsoft fundamentals coursework or certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems such as Jira Service Management, ServiceNow, HaloPSA, or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day service desk queue: triage, prioritize, document, and resolve common incidents and service requests, and escalate issues that move beyond defined frontline support scope.
  • Provide end-user support for laptops, peripherals, printers, conferencing tools, connectivity basics, and common software issues across Windows, macOS, and Linux environments.
  • Support the full user lifecycle by creating, updating, and removing accounts; assigning licenses; handling password resets and MFA issues; and coordinating onboarding, offboarding, and role-change access requests.
  • Prepare, configure, enroll, and ship laptops and related hardware for new hires and remote employees, using standardized setup processes and endpoint tools such as Intune.
  • Support a Microsoft-centric environment, including Microsoft 365 user administration and routine troubleshooting across Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive, with basic Entra ID and Intune administration under established standards.
  • Maintain clean asset and inventory records, track device assignments and returns, and provide light procurement support for laptops, accessories, replacements, and license requests.
  • Create and maintain support documentation, knowledge-base articles, setup checklists, and standard operating procedures so recurring issues can be resolved faster and more consistently.
  • Partner closely with HR on new-hire readiness, with Finance on purchasing and returns, and with Security or senior IT staff on access hygiene, device compliance, and escalation paths.

Benefits

  • Base pay, plus generous annual equity package and potential bonuses.
