About The Position

This is a National Guard Title 32 excepted-service position with the Pennsylvania Air National Guard, assigned to the 211th Engineering Installation Squadron. The IT Specialist (Entarch), GS-2210-11, provides IT engineering and installation services to DoD, MAJCOM, NGB, and base-level customers. The role manages and directs engineering and installation training and operations in garrison and deployed locations, developing, sustaining, and enhancing network and electromagnetic capabilities. The position produces IT architectural installation project packages and conducts on-site engineering surveys and assistance visits. It manages implementation and project installation to ensure architecture, configuration, and integration conformity. The position is indefinite for applicants who are not currently permanent technicians; it may lead to permanent assignment depending on future force-structure requirements. One or more positions may be filled.

Requirements

• National Guard membership is required, with membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard before the effective date of placement.
• Applicants who are not currently National Guard members must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the military grade listed in the announcement.
• Must be an enlisted member in grades E1–E8.
• Must have at least 36 months of specialized experience, education, or training in techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer application or specialty area.
• Specialized experience must include planning assignment actions involving coordination outside the organizational unit and developing project controls; adapting guidelines or precedents to assignment needs; and preparing documentation for cost/benefit studies by summarizing and organizing material logically.
• Must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the position, assessed based on duties performed rather than length of service or rank alone.
• Secret security clearance verification is required for accession into the position.
• Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
• Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.
• Must participate in direct deposit.
• May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
• Must wear the military uniform.
• For GS-11 education qualification: a Ph.D. or equivalent, or three years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide IT engineering and installation services to DoD, MAJCOM, NGB, and base-level customers.
• Manage and direct engineering and installation training and operations in garrison and deployed locations.
• Develop, sustain, and enhance network and electromagnetic capabilities to defend national interests from attack.
• Produce IT architectural installation project packages.
• Configure, install, maintain, reconstitute, remove, relocate, overhaul, and modify IP-based systems, circuits, and intrusion detection systems.
• Work with physical and wireless LANs and WANs; ground radio, satellite, and telemetry communications; command-and-control, weather, ground aircraft control and warning radar systems; air traffic control radio; meteorological and navigational aid systems; airfield systems; and other equipment platforms.
• Conduct on-site engineering surveys to gather project information.
• Manage project implementation and installation, ensuring architecture, configuration, and integration conformity.
• Conduct on-site IT engineering assistance visits as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
