About The Position

SigIQ.ai is seeking an IT Site Reliability Contractor for a short-term, on-site engagement at a K-12 school in the Greater Dayton, Ohio area. This role is crucial for bridging the gap between the school's technical environment and SigIQ.ai's engineering team. The contractor will be responsible for auditing tech issues, reproducing problems, capturing technical evidence, and reporting findings to enable quick fixes. This is a high-impact role ideal for a student or recent graduate interested in site reliability engineering and IT support, offering direct exposure to incident triage in a live production environment.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Computer Science, IT, Computer Engineering, or related program.
  • Comfortable gathering technical evidence (e.g., frontend logs, network speed).
  • Strong critical thinking and observation skills.
  • Comfortable with day-to-day endpoint and device support for iPads.
  • Strong written communication skills, capable of writing engineer-actionable bug reports.
  • Reliable, professional, and comfortable working in a school environment with students and teachers.
  • Able to work on-site in the Greater Dayton, Ohio area for the full two-week engagement.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior site reliability, IT helpdesk, or NOC experience.
  • Familiarity with reading application and system logs.
  • Light scripting in Python or Bash.
  • Exposure to monitoring tools (Datadog, Grafana).
  • Basic packet capture experience (Wireshark).
  • Experience filing high-quality issues in Jira, Linear, or GitHub.

Responsibilities

  • Be physically present at the school to reproduce issues as they occur.
  • Capture clean technical evidence, including logs, screenshots, and network traces.
  • Report technical issues to the engineering team in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Own a clean ticket queue and drive issues to closure.
  • Write up post-mortems for significant technical incidents.
  • Perform light proactive work, such as checking Wi-Fi coverage and validating fixes.
  • Flag patterns that require engineering attention.
