About The Position

RIGHTECH is a leading nationwide provider of technical staffing services, and we are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Fire Alarm Technician. This is an ongoing position starting ASAP in New York, NY. The role involves installing, repairing, or upgrading fire alarm systems with the guidance of building plans and electrical layouts. Experience with EST 4 and Bosch systems is required, and programming experience is a definite plus. Responsibilities include mounting sensors, running low voltage cabling in commercial buildings (including drilling concrete walls and limited conduit work), completing all wiring and equipment installations, and testing newly installed systems to ensure proper functioning and compliance with codes and regulations. Troubleshooting new system installations is also a key part of the role. Candidates must be able to use their own vehicle for the first 2-4 weeks of the assignment, possess their own industry-specific hand tools and PPE gear, and be open to travel with a clean, valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, or upgrade fire alarm systems with the guidance of building plans and electrical layouts.
• Mount sensors at appropriate locations, performing all necessary tasks, such as drilling holes for cabling and accessing locations such as crawlspaces or attics.
• Ensure all work complies with current codes and regulations.
• Run low voltage cabling in commercial buildings, including drilling concrete walls and limited conduit work.
• Complete all wiring, connections, and equipment installations ensuring that fire alarm systems are in compliance with electrical and fire codes.
• Tests to ensure all newly installed fire alarm systems and component devices are operational.
• Troubleshoot new system installations to ensure the proper functioning and to ensure the system meets local, county, state, or federal codes; legal and/or insurance requirements.
