About The Position

The IT Application Support Specialist provides technical administration, operational support, and limited software development for key Commercial Off‑The‑Shelf (COTS) applications hosted on enterprise servers. Primary responsibilities include supporting Microsoft BizTalk, Microsoft SharePoint, ETQ Reliance, and Rocket Enterprise Server, along with performing minor to moderate development tasks using .NET languages to extend functionality, build utilities, or support integrations. This role collaborates with business stakeholders, vendors, and IT teams to ensure system reliability, performance, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Experience supporting enterprise COTS applications, preferably including: Microsoft BizTalk Server, Microsoft SharePoint, ETQ Reliance, Rocket Enterprise Server
  • Understanding of Windows Server administration, networking concepts, and application architecture.
  • Ability to analyze logs, monitor performance, and diagnose complex application issues.
  • Strong communication, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices (Incident, Change, Problem Management).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SQL Server or Oracle databases, including writing basic queries.
  • Scripting experience using PowerShell or similar automation tools.
  • Understanding of enterprise integration patterns and middleware concepts.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and application hardening.
  • Experience integrating or extending COTS applications using custom .NET components.
  • Knowledge of .NET development, including C# or VB.NET, and familiarity with object‑oriented programming.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day to day support, maintenance, and monitoring for Microsoft BizTalk (integrations, orchestrations, adapters, logs, custom .NET components)
  • Provide day to day support, maintenance, and monitoring for Microsoft SharePoint (site administration, permissions, workflow troubleshooting, custom scripts)
  • Provide day to day support, maintenance, and monitoring for ETQ Reliance (workflow configuration, user access, vendor patch coordination)
  • Provide day to day support, maintenance, and monitoring for Rocket Enterprise Server (system configuration, performance, job monitoring)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to application functionality, integrations, and server infrastructure.
  • Develop or enhance small scale utilities, scripts, and integration components using .NET languages (C#, VB.NET, or PowerShell).
  • Assist in maintaining and updating custom BizTalk components or SharePoint add ins developed in .NET.
  • Implement software patches, upgrades, and vendor-released updates across supported applications.
  • Improve application stability and performance through proactive monitoring and root-cause analysis.
  • Maintain documentation of configurations, customizations, procedures, and known issues.
  • Manage application configuration, environment settings, permissions, and access controls.
  • Coordinate with vendors to resolve escalated technical issues and apply recommended fixes.
  • Participate in change management, application lifecycle planning, system upgrades, and integration testing.
  • Provide technical guidance to business users and help identify opportunities to optimize application usage.
  • Ensure compliance with internal security standards, audit requirements, and IT policies.
