Emergency Response: Yes – Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in a related field (e.g, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, MIS or CIS) and 3-5 years of experience performing similar responsibilities
  • OR Associate's Degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent (e.g, certificate of formal training in telecommunications or comparable military training) and 5 to 7 years of experience performing similar responsibilities
  • OR a high school diploma (or GED) and at least 7 years of experience performing similar responsibilities
  • Must be able to pass drug screen background investigation, psychological screen, and radworker training as required for nuclear site access clearance.
  • Must be able to pass substation access class.
  • Must be physically able to carry 50 lbs.
  • Required to use personal vehicle on the job, and transport up to 300 lbs of equipment.

  • Experience in multi-platform environments
  • QEW (Qualified Electrical Worker) Certification is preferred
  • Experience working in a Utility Company

Responsibilities

  • Performs tasks related to the design, installation, maintenance and documentation of corporate wide telecommunications infrastructure, equipment, and services.
  • Responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining telecommunication infrastructure and related equipment and services.
  • Completes requests for service, determines methodology for installation and removal, determines appropriateness of equipment changes, interfaces with Engineering and provides technical support for other team members.
  • Serves as an expert in their discipline and is able to perform a variety of complex tasks and resolve complex technical problems in the field with no guidance or direction.
  • Leads, trains, and directs the work of others in the field.
  • Provides support on corporate-wide telecommunications infrastructure and voice/data equipment including the following systems: Substation radio alarm equipment, PBX platforms and key systems G3s, G3si, G3R, Intuity voicemail and Conversant; Partner, IA2 and Avtec key systems, voice terminals, basic telephony circuits, (loopstart, ground start, 4 wire E & M, and ring down), Data and Voice circuits, Digital carrier systems and multiplexers, Voice over IP, DSX wiring and patching, DSU/CSUs, Fiber optic termination and testing (single and multimode), ISDN PRI trunk groups administration and testing, ISDN BRI stations and administration, LAN/WAN (10 base- T, 100 base-T, routers, switches, hubs), TCP/IP, OSI networking model, Wireless access points, DSO, DS1, DS3, and Sonet installation and troubleshooting, CCTV, PA systems and HI-Com, Voice recorders, Pairgain HDSL, SCADA, and telemetry, Frame relay systems, Telephony infrastructure wiring standards.
  • Provides support of Fermi (Nuclear Power Plant) RERP system including Joint Public Information Center, Fermi Simulator, Fermi RERP telephone and Fermi HI-COM.
  • Provides support for the Analog and Digital Microwave network including SCADA systems.
  • Provides support of the Corporate Radio Data Network Systems and the RTUs and communications interfaces including SCADA systems. Advanced troubleshooting of antennas, feed lines, radios, power supplies, data modems, and serial data lines at RDN and APTD sites.
  • Provides support for Radio and mobile computing systems. This includes mobile two-way radios, handheld two-way radios, dispatch consoles, radio base stations, trunked radio base stations, satellite receiver systems, in-vehicle repeaters, radio base station sites, public notification siren systems, mobile computing systems, wireless packet data modems, pager and cellular equipment, accessories and services.
  • Provides 24 X 7 trouble response when needed.
  • Interprets drawings, schematics, and prints.
  • Assists technicians in troubleshooting complex system problems using knowledge, experience, and diagnostic tools.
  • Provides technical training/coaching and advice to technicians.
  • Keeps abreast of technology trends and DTE Energy's stated direction.
  • Acquires certifications in area of expertise when available.
  • Works in Nuclear and Fossil Power Plants, substations, and outdoors in inclement weather.
