About The Position

The Portfolio Test Lead – VA Programs provides strategic and hands-on leadership for testing across multiple contracts within GDIT’s Veterans Affairs portfolio. The role leads testing in a matrixed environment across 4–10 concurrent projects, with test teams of 2–15 people per project, and tailors test approaches to each project’s needs while promoting common best practices. The position works with GDIT and VA leadership to set testing strategies, communicate quality risks and results, and ensure testing supports VA mission and business objectives. This includes accessibility compliance under Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA, performance testing at production-representative scale, legacy-to-modern system parity, and end-to-end integration across VA enterprise services. The role defines portfolio-wide standards, metrics, and reporting; coaches project teams; promotes pragmatic automation and continuous testing in CI/CD pipelines; and remains hands-on as needed. It coordinates stakeholders across delivery teams and leads risk management and continuous improvement. Expected first-90-day outcomes include an assessment and improvement roadmap for portfolio testing, adoption of a standardized test strategy framework by at least two projects, and baseline quality metrics with a regular reporting cadence and an executive-level briefing.

  • Identify portfolio-level quality and testing risks early and drive mitigation strategies across projects.
  • Coordinate and influence test leads and engineers across projects, align priorities, and resolve cross-team issues without relying on direct line authority.
  • Lead retrospectives, root-cause analysis, and lessons-learned activities, and roll out improvements such as shared test suites, reusable scripts, and integration test harnesses.
