About The Position

The IT Project Coordinator will serve as the head of the project management team for the development of PavementWorks and the IT&T Liaison, responsible for attending the quarterly IT forums, as well as the IT Governance Designee responsible for submitting project requests and the IT governance process for the division. The candidate will represent the Division’s interests during the replacement process and coordinate the development with DOT’s IT group. Duties will include: supervision and oversight of efforts to review business requirements, ensuring that the Division’s position is accurately articulated; attending various meetings; preparation of written and oral progress reports; ensuring that high-level business requirements are translated into detailed functional specifications to facilitate high-quality project success; attending regular development meetings with IT&T, gathering and transmitting necessary information; developing plans for working out hardware solutions and their rollout; interfacing with office and operational personnel to facilitate information gathering, testing, training, and rollout processes. Conduct demos, oversee ongoing QA application testing, develop training materials and manuals, and conduct ongoing training sessions to ensure the success of application adoption. Develop and implement a rollout plan for the application end users. Supervise the management of multiple projects in order to streamline the development process. Interface with team members, the management team, the Assistant Commissioner, and the Deputy Commissioner; and perform duties related to the management of IT reporting in the Division.

Requirements

  • Must be serving permanently in the Civil Service title of Certified IT Administrator (Database) or must have filed for the Civil Service Exam Number 6033.
  • Professional/Vendor Certification(s) in database administration required for the position.
  • Option 1: A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, and two years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) experience in database administration. Experience must include database design, configuration, installation, troubleshooting, integration, performance monitoring, maintenance, enhancement, and security management.
  • Option 2: A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) information technology experience (IT) of which at least two years must have been database administration experience as described in Option 1.
  • Option 3: A satisfactory equivalent of education and/or experience equivalent to Option 1 or 2.
  • All candidates must have at least one year of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) database administration experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Undergraduate education may be substituted for experience on the basis that 30 undergraduate semester credits from an accredited college or university is equivalent to 6 months of information technology experience, but may not be substituted for the required database administration experience.
  • A masters degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of database administration experience.
