About The Position

This position is Limited Tenure, meaning employment will be terminated at the established end date (approximately 24 months from date of hire). The IT Program Manager will have overall program responsibility for a set of interrelated projects of very large size and/or high complexity, and/or multiple projects of mixed complexity levels and sizes. They may also provide support to one or more projects of high complexity as part of a portfolio or program team, under the direction of senior level leadership and/or institutional committees. The role involves managing programs with budget responsibility up to $20 million and providing matrix supervision of staff from other IT departments and divisions. The IT Program Manager will proactively engage technological subject matter experts in high-level solution determination and direction-setting, and routinely interface with institutional committees and oversight bodies to understand priorities, develop project action plans, facilitate approvals, and work across organizational boundaries to deliver project solutions. The position is responsible for achieving program and project objectives and completion on time, on budget, and in conformance to Mayo Clinic IT methodologies and practices. This role supports strategic planning and execution of multi-year initiatives that may involve multiple interrelationships and complexities, requiring the development and execution of complex communication and management plans. The IT Program Manager makes complex judgments and takes any reasonable action required to accomplish agreed to project objectives under very limited guidance. They serve as an internal subject matter expert regarding both departmental and institutional program and project management practices, methods and standards, and models the behaviors and mentors more junior colleagues in the concepts and application of a Project Focused Culture within the Information Technology department. Responsibilities are performed with a significant degree of independence and expertise in managing multiple competing objectives, and complex technical information is communicated in clear and unambiguous terms to management and end-user personnel. The role strictly adheres to budget management and guidelines of both the Information Technology department and the institution. Additional job-related functions may be detailed by the immediate supervisor.

Requirements

  • Limited Tenure position (approximately 24 months).
  • Must commit to staying in the position until the end of the tenure before becoming eligible to transfer to a new position.
  • After completion of limited tenure, it is the employee's responsibility to secure another role within Mayo Clinic through the job vacancy process or employment will be ended.
  • This vacancy is not eligible for sponsorship; Mayo Clinic will not sponsor or transfer visas.
  • Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
