About The Position

This position is primarily located in our Carson DMV Office within the Motor Vehicles IT Division and will support the Department’s cloud modernization efforts as part of the multi year transformation initiative. The incumbent will assist in the design, maintenance, and optimization of the DMV’s cloud infrastructure, ensuring secure, scalable, and efficient operations across enterprise environments. Key responsibilities are to maintain and enhance the DMV’s cloud infrastructure to ensure reliability, security, scalability, and overall performance. This includes supporting cloud environments, applying knowledge of managed and serverless services, the Shared Responsibility Model, and the Cloud Well Architected Framework. The role involves designing, developing, testing, and deploying cloud architectures, implementing infrastructure automation, and researching and modifying enterprise cloud systems and application software. The incumbent will maintain documented procedures and standards, stay current on cloud engineering technologies and industry developments, and utilize expertise in cloud security, monitoring, compute, network, storage, and database services. Additional responsibilities include supporting hybrid cloud integrations, demonstrating strong analytical and communication skills, working both independently and collaboratively within cross functional teams, and employing agile methodologies and tools such as Azure DevOps, Confluence, and Jira. Under the authority of NRS 239B.010.1(b), the DMV utilizes NRS 205.4605 - 205.810, NRS 293.504, NRS 293.5045, 6 CFR 37.45, 49 CFR 1572.103, and 49 CFR 384.228 as criteria to obtain a FBI fingerprint clearance check on current and prospective employees. Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time. Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Working knowledge of at least one general purpose programming language (in software-oriented positions).
Working knowledge of basic programming techniques such as table handling and on-line file updates.
Working knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures required to design and implement information systems-based solutions.
Working knowledge of principles, tools and techniques as applied to writing, modifying, and documenting programs.
Working knowledge of techniques of diagramming program flow.
General knowledge of access methods and file structures.
General knowledge of at least one formal systems design methodology.
General knowledge of principles of designing test procedures.
General knowledge of principles, practices and procedures required to develop, design, and implement information system-based solutions in a wide range of problem domains.
Ability to decompose problems into constituent parts.
Ability to interview users to identify needs.
Ability to make decisions and use independent judgment (independently choose appropriate action after reviewing alternatives).
Ability to test and validate systems.
Must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S.

Maintain current knowledge of technological trends and advancements in the IT field as well as security management practices, laws, policies, and ethics.
Participate in recommending and justifying resource allocations and expenditure decisions, tracking, and recording expenditures, preparing purchase requests, and writing technical requirements for grant proposals.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Under general supervision, incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower-level IT staff as assigned.
