About The Position

Vercel is seeking an IT Ops Engineer to join their IT team in San Francisco. This role is primarily focused on managing the daily IT needs of in-office staff, ensuring they have the technical support needed to work effectively. The IT Ops Engineer will be the first point of contact for IT-related issues in the office, troubleshooting hardware and software problems, and supporting in-office events. In addition to help desk duties, the role involves working on IT projects that affect both local and global teams. The ideal candidate is comfortable in a fast-paced environment, eager to tackle a wide range of IT tasks, and enjoys solving problems. This position is suitable for someone with a solid IT background looking to broaden their skills and take on more responsibility in a supportive and dynamic team.

Requirements

  • At least 2+ years of full-time experience in IT support or a related field.
  • Solid foundation in troubleshooting hardware, software, A/V and network issues.
  • Experience in a startup or tech environment.
  • Deep understanding of IT systems, including macOS environments, networking, and security.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical issues in simple terms and collaborating effectively with team members across different departments.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, showing initiative in tackling challenges and flexibility in handling multiple tasks or projects simultaneously.
  • Approachable and helpful, always ready to assist others with their IT needs while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
  • Genuine interest in technology and a commitment to staying informed about the latest IT trends and best practices.
  • Ability to manage tasks efficiently, paying close attention to details, and keeping track of all IT assets and documentation.
  • Understanding of the importance of cybersecurity and vigilance in implementing measures to protect company data and infrastructure.
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and do what needs to be done.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for our in-office staff for all IT-related issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network problems, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient operation of all systems.
  • Support our global workforce with IT-related issues in an effective and collaborative manner.
  • Assist in the maintenance and monitoring of the office's IT infrastructure, including workstations, conference rooms, network devices, and software applications.
  • Pair with the other members of the IT team on various projects, from upgrading system infrastructure to implementing new technology solutions.
  • Contribute to planning, execution, and monitoring of projects to enhance our IT capabilities.
  • Utilize IT ticketing systems to manage help-desk requests and tickets as needed.
  • Help with the creation, management, and support of user accounts and access controls.
  • Ensure employees have the necessary resources and permissions to perform their jobs effectively.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for IT systems and procedures.
  • Work closely with other departments to support their technical needs and ensure IT alignment with business goals.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects to support company-wide initiatives.
  • Partner with our Onboarding team to help procure equipment, set up accounts, and ensure a positive experience for new employees.
  • Assist the Workplace Service team to ensure we maintain a world-class office environment.
