About The Position

We are looking for a senior IT Operations & Security Manager to lead and strengthen SSC Space’s cybersecurity and IT operations footprint in the United States. This is a high-impact leadership role at the intersection of cybersecurity, compliance, and business growth within a global space technology company. This role is part of SSC Space global IT Management Team and reports to the Group CIO in Sweden. The position serves as the senior IT representative and team lead for SSC’s U.S.-based IT personnel, while maintaining a strong hands-on focus on cybersecurity, compliance, and secure operations. While U.S.-based engineers (Network, Platform, and Workplace) report functionally to their global managers in Sweden, this role provides local leadership, coordination, and operational direction across all U.S. IT activities. The role combines IT leadership, cybersecurity operations, compliance (CMMC v2.0 / NIST 800-171/53), and customer facing security engagement, and plays a key role in supporting SSC Space business growth in the U.S. market.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of experience in IT operations and/or cybersecurity
  • Proven experience leading or coordinating IT/security operations in complex environments
  • Strong knowledge of security frameworks (CMMC, NIST 800-171/53)
  • Experience in regulated or security-classified environments
  • Ability to lead through influence in a global, matrix organization
  • Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working with distributed teams
  • Willingness to travel internationally
  • Eligibility for a U.S. security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Background in cloud security governance or managing U.S.-restricted systems.
  • Experience from multinational, government, defense, or highly regulated organizations.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the operational lead for SSC’s U.S. IT function, providing coordination, prioritization, and leadership in a matrix environment (without direct line management responsibility).
  • Serve as the primary IT interface for U.S. operations, ensuring alignment with global IT strategy, standards, and ways of working.
  • Represent U.S. IT priorities, risks, and operational needs within the global IT management team.
  • Represent U.S. and global IT on the local U.S. leadership team.
  • Coordinate IT operations across infrastructure, platform, workplace, and security domains in close collaboration with global teams.
  • Drive cybersecurity operations in the U.S., ensuring compliance with CMMC v2.0 and NIST 800-171/53 while continuously strengthening SSC’s security posture.
  • Govern security monitoring and controls for ITAR, U.S.-restricted and “U.S. eyes only systems, including relevant cloud environments.
  • Oversee and manage security incident response activities in coordination with global SecOps and IT teams.
  • Monitor and support compliance with internal security policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with IT, security, and business stakeholders to identify, assess, and reduce cybersecurity risk.
  • Support business development and sales teams by representing SSC in customer meetings and audits, demonstrating SSC’s security posture and operational maturity.
  • Capture and translate customer security and IT requirements into actionable input for IT and security teams.
  • Act as a trusted security and IT advisor in customer facing engagements.
  • Conduct and coordinate security vettings and screenings for new U.S. employees, in accordance with SSC policies and applicable regulations.
  • Support insider threat prevention and personnel security processes.
