About The Position

Anthropic's IT Operations team is responsible for ensuring that every employee can perform their work effectively and without interruption. This role focuses on developing and managing a global asset management and hardware lifecycle program across multiple office locations. The IT Operations Engineer will oversee the entire lifecycle of hardware, from procurement and inventory to assignment, refresh, collection, disposal, and vendor relationships. This includes managing day-to-day operations for the corporate mobile program and laptop/workstation lifecycle management. The role involves close collaboration with various internal teams, including IT, Security, and business operations, as well as Finance and IT Support.

Requirements

Experience implementing an asset management and lifecycle program for a multi-office fleet, including defining processes for procurement, inventory, assignment, refresh, collection, and disposal.
Experience selecting or implementing an asset management platform (e.g., Jira Assets, Snipe-IT) and developing its data model.
Experience running an e-waste or secure disposal program with certified partners and chain-of-custody records.
Experience managing reseller or vendor relationships for hardware purchasing and asset disposal.
Ability to document processes through runbooks, how-to guides, and knowledge base articles.
Ability to recognize when to route platform work to IT Engineering, policy to the Endpoint pod, and budget to Finance.

Nice To Haves

Experience supporting a corporate mobile program or carrier account.
Basic scripting experience (Bash or Python) for inventory or reporting automation.
Experience using AI tools to improve personal or team productivity.
Experience as the hands-on asset contact for an ISO 27001 or SOC 2 audit, including providing extracts from the register, disposal certificates, and evidence of returned assets.

Responsibilities

Develop the global asset management strategy, including the lifecycle model, data management for devices, and office-specific execution plans.
Select, implement, and administer the asset management tool, defining its data model and integrations, and collaborating with IT Engineering for platform-level access.
Develop processes for on-site engineers, including the storage room process.
Support the evaluation and onboarding of a hardware lifecycle services vendor and manage the day-to-day relationship.
Establish and maintain an accurate inventory of record for all devices, tracking their state, location, and assignment.
Conduct audits of device assignments and reconcile physical counts with the system of record.
Manage inventories of demo, loaner, and travel devices.
Maintain up-to-date inventory counts to inform strategic purchasing decisions for new hires and peripherals.
Support hardware purchasing through reseller and vendor relationships, managing the refresh calendar.
Reconcile purchase orders, deliveries, and invoices with Accounting and vendors.
Develop device collection and recovery workflows for offboarding, refresh swaps, and remote employee returns.
Build and manage the e-waste program, including certified recycling and secure disposal partners, data destruction records, and chain of custody.
Handle equipment under legal hold or other chain-of-custody requirements.
Provision, track, and recover the device fleet for BPO partners, serving as the primary hardware contact.
Manage day-to-day operations for the corporate mobile program, including deployment, break-fix, and carrier relationships.
Identify and automate repetitive tasks using scripts, system integrations, or AI tools.
