IT NETWORK ENGINEER (IT)
About The Position
Performs highly specialized work designing, installing, administering, and optimizing WAN, LAN, wireless, telecommunications, and related components to achieve high reliability and performance. Ensures systems availability, configures new implementations, and develops processes and procedures for ongoing management of the network and telecommunications environment. Ensures the physical security, integrity, and safety of the network. Participates in installing, monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing hardware, software, and communication links. Leads and coordinates research and implementation projects using appropriate documentation, tools, and task management skills. Must be available to respond 24/7 to systems issues as needed. Works under the supervision of the Chief Information Officer or a designated staff member.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Sciences, or a related field, plus at least seven years of experience managing Cisco network hardware and software and three years of experience managing Palo Alto firewalls in a multi-site environment with five or more locations; alternatively, an associate's degree in one of those fields plus at least ten years managing enterprise network routers and switches, at least seven years managing Cisco network hardware and software, and three years managing Palo Alto firewalls in a multi-site environment with five or more locations.
- Must possess a current Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification or obtain one within six months of hire.
- Certifications and other job-related training will be required and may change from time to time as determined by the CIO.
- Must be available to respond 24/7 to address systems issues as needed.
- Must be able to perform essential job duties and functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Responsibilities
- Plan, design, test, implement, troubleshoot, and enhance enterprise network and telecommunications systems, including hardware, software, and appliances.
- Implement and maintain security solutions and ensure proper security practices, including monthly software patching, firmware updates, and daily review of system alerts.
- Create and maintain documentation for configurations, logical network diagrams, processes, service records, and security configurations.
- Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex system problems, and recommend and implement corrective hardware and software solutions.
- Respond to emergency outages in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
- Monitor network performance to ensure proper performance and reliability.
- Provide training and written documentation for support personnel.
- Provide guidance and/or direction to co-workers.
- Write technical specifications for the purchase of network and telecommunications hardware and software products.
- Interact and negotiate with vendors and contractors to secure products and services.
- Research relevant technology products, services, protocols, and standards to stay current with developments in the networking industry.
- Attend training seminars, conferences, and trade shows to broaden knowledge of current and future issues and technologies.
- Proactively research, architect, and implement ongoing networking infrastructure enhancements and refinements.
