About The Position

IT Manager Stamford, CT About VNA VEBIO North America, LLC (VNA) is growing its headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. VNA is a subsidiary of Verbio SE, a well-established, biofuel company in Germany with subsidiaries in the US, Canada, Poland, Switzerland, Hungary, and India. VERBIO produces innovative biofuels, such as Biodiesel, Bioethanol and Biogas/Renewable Natural Gas (RNG), and fertilizers as well as bio-components for the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and food industries. Currently VNA operates a large biodiesel plant in Ontario, Canada; is ramping up production of a large-scale biorefinery in Iowa, USA; starting construction of a large-scale biorefinery in Indiana, USA, with ambitions for continued growth in coming years in the North America region. Position Purpose The IT Manager will proactively manage the IT systems and the IT team of VERBIO North America. This role is responsible for ensuring smooth IT operations (applications, infrastructure, services) across all locations, including the corporate headquarters in Stamford and the production plants in Iowa, Indiana and Canada. The IT Manager will directly oversee and manage projects initiated by Verbio Germany. The IT Manager will be responsible for creating project scopes, budgets, seeking approvals and execution while ensuring compliance with company policies and directives. This role will require approximately 30% of domestic and international travel time and is an in-office position. This is a full-time exempt salaried position with dual reporting line, administrative reporting to the Head of Finance N.A. and functional reporting to the Head of IT (Germany) and Global Head of Information Security (Germany).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with a variety of software applications and operating systems
  • Proficiency in system security and data protection measures
  • Leadership skills and at least 3+ years managing a team
  • Minimum 7 years of broad-scope and diverse commercial IT experiences
  • Proactive, well-organized and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences, including senior management

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator or similar certification a plus

Responsibilities

  • IT Management & Coordination Serve as the US primary point of contact for all IT-related matters, ensuring service quality, ticket resolution, and SLA compliance.
  • Act as the primary internal IT contact for 200+ employees across four locations.
  • Execute IT security, compliance, governance, and project management directives established by global IT leadership, ensuring local adherence in North America.
  • Act as the U.S. point of contact for HMI process control systems, executing standards, processes, and changes defined by IT in Germany at the plant level.
  • Manage the annual IT budget in alignment with global IT strategy, priorities, and approvals set by Germany-based IT leadership.
  • Ensure local execution of IT initiatives, systems, projects and policies as directed by IT leadership in Germany and North America.
  • Support VERBIO Germany in completing the annual audit of North American IT functions.
  • IT Operations & Infrastructure Ensure effective and efficient IT service, infrastructure, and application performance.
  • Manage procurement and lifecycle of IT hardware (computers, network equipment, printers, etc.) and software licenses/subscriptions.
  • Oversee network infrastructure (storage, switches, firewalls, routers, etc.) and maintain accurate network topology documentation.
  • Serve as on-site IT support for the Stamford office, including ISP, network wiring, security systems, printers, and phones.
  • Manage employee mobile programs (U.S. – Verizon; Canada – Rogers) and VOIP phone systems across North America.
  • Coordinate major IT projects, patching, upgrades, testing, and deployments with the MSP, assisting with follow-up troubleshooting.
  • SharePoint and file management.
  • Vendor, Ticket & Performance Management Track and prioritize open IT tickets to ensure proper resolution.
  • Audit all internal IT activities for performance, compliance, and accuracy.
  • Review and validate IT vendors.
  • Review monthly IT performance reports and lead regular meetings with relevant stakeholders.
  • Security & Compliance Coordinate with global teams on information security, compliance, and governance standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of user access permissions, network topology, and system configurations.
  • Conduct phishing tests and coordinate employee awareness initiatives.
  • Support audits and ensure ongoing adherence to company IT policies and controls.
  • Respond to rare IT emergencies (24/7/365).
  • Manage ongoing employee IT related training.
  • Application & ERP Support Oversee the company’s ERP system, providing support to users as needed.
  • Support and manage ERP integrations with external systems or measurement devices.
  • Coordinate website content updates as required.
  • Employee Support & Communication Partner with Human Resources to manage IT aspects of employee onboarding and offboarding.
  • Communicate IT-related updates, planned maintenance, outages, security alerts, and announcements to all North American employees.
  • Travel to plant sites as needed to support projects, audits, and on-site troubleshooting.
  • Continually identify opportunities to enhance IT performance, efficiency, and security, and propose improvement initiatives.
