IT Lead

Crux
$150,000 - $250,000Remote

About The Position

Crux is hiring an IT Lead to own all vendor procurement, contracts, provisioning, and IT strategy, as well as the full employee technology experience across software and hardware. If technology blocks or enables someone's work at Crux, this person owns it, including execution of security policy.

Requirements

  • 4–7 years of experience in IT at a high-growth startup, ideally as the sole or primary IT owner — not one of many on a team
  • Hands-on depth with the modern startup IT stack: Google Workspace, an MDM platform, an identity provider, SSO/SAML, and SaaS lifecycle tooling
  • Direct experience contributing to a SOC2 audit cycle: owning evidence, managing a control area, or running the program
  • Track record negotiating SaaS contracts and rationalizing vendor spend
  • Comfort managing a mixed Mac/Windows environment
  • Bias toward automation: you see a manual provisioning request and think about how to eliminate the category, not just fulfill the ticket
  • Regular, practical use of AI tools as part of daily IT work; we use Claude, Harvey, and others internally and expect this role to push that frontier
  • Ability to operate without a team, manage a high-volume request queue, and still make time for the structural work

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at a high-growth startup running IT
  • Experience running security (pattern-matching instincts for risk, even without owning strategy)
  • Experience working in a regulated business/industry

Responsibilities

  • Own employee SSO provisioning for new-hire onboarding as well as offboarding
  • Drive faster turnaround on SOC2 audit requests
  • Audit all systems, identify usage patterns, and find cost-cutting opportunities
  • Vendor renegotiation cadence
  • Device management & endpoint tooling

Benefits

  • Healthcare: We cover 100% of premiums for employees with a variety of plans on Aetna (nationwide) and Kaiser (WA and California) and subsidize 70% for dependents (total as a group), if relevant.
  • Dental & vision: We cover 100% of premiums for employees and 50% for dependents (each), if relevant.
  • 10 company holidays per year.
  • 20 days per year of paid time off.
  • 16 weeks for birthing parents and 12 weeks for non-birthing parents of parental leave.
  • Company wide bonus tied to revenue goals.
  • Stock options in a rapidly growing company.
