About The Position

Thea Energy is leveraging recent breakthroughs in stellarator physics and engineering to create a faster and simpler approach to commercializing fusion energy. The company is reinventing the stellarator using computer-controlled arrays of planar coils thereby replacing the intricate, complex modular magnets required in all other stellarator architectures. Thea Energy is on a mission to create a limitless source of zero emission energy for a sustainable future. Position Overview We are looking for a motivated, tech-savvy IT Intern to join our IT team. In this role, you will get hands-on experience dealing with day-to-day IT operations, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and assisting with internal projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a current student or recent graduate looking to jumpstart their career in IT support, systems administration, or network engineering.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/certification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of desktop operating systems (Windows 10/11, macOS) and core networking concepts (IP addressing, Wi-Fi troubleshooting, DNS).
  • A logical approach to troubleshooting and a strong desire to figure out how things work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain technical fixes to non-technical users in a friendly, patient manner.
  • Ability to handle sensitive company data with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform activities such as typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with initial triage, troubleshooting, and resolution of hardware, software, and network issues for local and remote employees.
  • Help configure, deploy, and maintain company laptops, workstations, printers, etc.
  • Assist with user onboarding and offboarding, including setting up accounts in Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Active Directory, or other internal tools.
  • Create and update internal IT guides, FAQs, and troubleshooting documentation for employees.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of hardware, software licenses, and peripheral equipment.
  • Provide support on upcoming IT infrastructure projects (e.g., system migrations, network upgrades, or security audits).
