About The Position

Harford Mutual is looking for an IT intern to support the Tech Services IT team over the summer of 2027. This position is for individuals currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing career opportunities in information technology. This internship provides hands-on experience supporting enterprise technology operations, endpoint management, customer support, and cybersecurity-related initiatives within a professional insurance environment.

Requirements

  • Must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in Information Technology or a related field.
  • Foundational knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, hardware troubleshooting, and basic networking concepts preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and help desk or customer service practices; exposure to PowerShell scripting is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and resourcefulness skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high-energy, self-motivated, and proactive.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and the ability to quickly adapt to change.
  • Desire to learn and grow within the field of IT.
  • Customer-service oriented, with a professional and approachable demeanor.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Technical Services team with ongoing projects, which may include:
  • Deploying new workstations and reimaging existing workstations.
  • Upgrading operating systems and enterprise software.
  • Updating, organizing, and maintaining IT documentation.
  • Supporting asset lifecycle management activities.
  • Assisting with monthly security patching and vulnerability remediation for workstations.
  • Responding to, triaging, and documenting end-user support requests through ticketing systems, escalating as appropriate.
  • Assisting with endpoint management activities, including Microsoft Intune, workstation deployments, and hardware lifecycle management.
  • Participating in IT documentation, process improvement, and operational readiness initiatives.
