About The Position

Under the direction of the Head of Information Technology, the IT Infrastructure Administrator is responsible for supporting, maintaining and improving the day-to-day reliable performance across all endpoints, servers, and network systems across on-premises and cloud environments. The position focuses on implementing and maintaining reliable and secure systems that support daily organization operations while advancing critical initiatives related to security, servers, virtualization, identity management, networking, backups, disaster recovery and infrastructure modernization. It also plays a key role strengthening security posture, reducing risk, and improving systems reliability while working closely with other IT staff to deliver stable, secure platforms that support museum staff and visitors.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, or a related field and at least five years of related professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 years in a Systems Administrator or similar IT support role.
  • Broad knowledge of administration in Windows Server and virtual machine environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory and Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Strong experience with Windows, MacOS, and iOS device management and troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP and basic security concepts.
  • Experience supporting endpoint platforms from an infrastructure management perspective.
  • Strong ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing needs and work independently and collaboratively in a complex environment.

Nice To Haves

  • An advanced degree in a related field, such Information & Computer Sciences, or Cybersecurity or related certifications.
  • Experience managing endpoint platforms from an infrastructure and identity perspective, including configuration standards, compliance, and integration with identity and security controls.
  • Familiarity with Windows Hyper-V Server administration, enterprise NAS/SAN storage platforms, and backup and recovery appliances.
  • Experience administering Microsoft 365 from an infrastructure and security perspective, including tenant configuration, identity management, and service health.
  • Experience with Azure Active Directory / Entra Identity Management, including Conditional Access, Intune, and Autopilot deployment.
  • Familiarity with PowerShell scripting and automation in support of infrastructure operations and security initiatives.
  • Experience with enterprise switching and wireless platforms (Cisco, UniFi, Meraki, or similar), including segmentation and performance considerations.
  • Experience with physical network infrastructure, including Ethernet cabling standards, installation, and troubleshooting (Cat5/Cat6).
  • Exposure to IT service management practices such as incident, change, or knowledge management.
  • Experience in a museum environment or nonprofit organization with multiple sites and varying degrees of need.
  • Understanding of Honolulu Museum of Art’s established identity and dedication to advancing it.

Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with the IT Team to support operational stability, security and service quality.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with internal teams and stakeholders, providing updates and ensuring satisfaction with IT services.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of all IT systems, device inventories, configurations, and support activities.
  • Collaborate with teammates by sharing solutions, documenting fixes, and building skills through team-based problem solving.
  • Administer and maintain the museum’s physical and virtual server environments, including operating systems, hardware, and core infrastructure services.
  • Administer and maintain infrastructure platforms such as virtualization, enterprise storage, backup systems, and recovery solutions.
  • Support the availability, performance, and security of core identity and platform services, including Active Directory, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365 services.
  • Support enterprise networking infrastructure, including switching, wireless, VLANs, routing, and inter-site connectivity, in coordination with other IT staff.
  • Implement infrastructure security controls, including systems hardening, patching, vulnerability remediation, and configuration standards.
  • Administer and support endpoint management from an infrastructure and identity perspective, including device compliance and configuration policies.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex infrastructure-related incidents and outages.
  • Maintain and test backup and disaster recovery processes to ensure data integrity and operational readiness.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance and capacity, identify risks or constraints, and recommend improvements.
  • Develop and maintain accurate infrastructure documentation, standards, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Support incident response activities by isolating affected systems and participate in remediation when security issues are identified.
  • Other duties as assigned.
