About The Position

The Field IT Support Technician provides onsite IT support, installations, troubleshooting, and technical service across a variety of client environments throughout the New York City and New Jersey metro area. This is a hands-on role for an experienced technician who is comfortable working in the field, interacting directly with clients, and handling a wide range of technical issues in fast-paced business environments. The right candidate is mature, dependable, customer-friendly, and takes pride in getting the job done without constant supervision. The technician will work in coordination with the DCS Frontline Support Team, using our help desk platform and industry SaaS tools to accept, document, resolve, and follow up on end-user and infrastructure-related support requests. Because of the nature of our clients’ businesses and service demands, this position requires flexibility, including some evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on IT support or field technician experience
  • Strong knowledge of desktops, networking, wireless, and end-user troubleshooting
  • Experience with POS systems, AV, VoIP, access control, and cameras preferred
  • Experience with rack mounting, cabling, patching, and onsite installations
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and solve problems in the field
  • Reliable, hardworking, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel throughout the New York City and New Jersey metro area
  • Flexible schedule with availability for some evenings, weekends, and holidays

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with POS systems, AV, VoIP, access control, and cameras preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite support for desktops, workstations, peripherals, network-connected devices, and end users
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Point-of-Sale hardware, including ticket printers, touch-screen terminals, and related components
  • Diagnose and resolve wireless, network, and connectivity issues
  • Participate in hardware rollouts, refreshes, and migration projects, including testing and issue resolution
  • Support audio/visual systems, VoIP platforms, conference room technology, access control systems, surveillance cameras, and related business systems
  • Assist with rack mounting, patching, cabling, and physical installation of IT equipment
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors for low-voltage wiring, telecom, security, and related facility technologies
  • Enter service requests and update tickets with clear, detailed, concise documentation
  • Work with the support team to identify, isolate, troubleshoot, resolve, and follow up on routine and escalated user issues
  • Escalate more complex technical problems promptly to the appropriate engineer or team member
  • Ensure client issues are addressed with urgency, professionalism, and strong follow-through
