About The Position

KCBD NewsChannel 11 is the NBC affiliate in Lubbock, Texas, and the dominant #1 station in the market. KCBD is the number one news station in the area and a great place to work; professional with a family environment. We operate 30 channels, including KCBD, KJTV, KXTQ, KLCW, and KMYL. This position involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and installing studio and editing equipment, as well as installing and maintaining computer equipment. It is primarily a Monday-Friday position, but occasional weekend and night shifts will be necessary, and there is a weekly on-call rotation. All engineering staff are on call 24/7 in case of an emergency.

Requirements

  • Must have knowledge of the engineering aspects of the technical facility, including studio support, post editing systems, field production support, and transmission of live / Vmix / OBS events and programs.
  • Must be able to install and remove rack equipment weighing 25-50 pounds with the help of another employee.

Nice To Haves

  • Tanium experience is a plus.
  • A good knowledge of VMware is a plus.
  • Have working knowledge of the latest operating systems software, including automation, server, and desktop operating systems. Linux is a plus.
  • A degree in IT/Broadcast engineering or a related field/experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting, maintaining, and installing studio and editing equipment.
  • Installing and maintaining computer equipment.
  • Have good People Skills to work with the other Departments and personnel, along with the ability to fix any issue on the fly.
  • Install and configure computer hardware, operating systems, and applications within the station.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable regulations and communication with departments regarding those regulations.
  • Assist in the implementation of Capital Projects.
  • Integration, maintenance, and operation of new and current equipment, including towers, transmitters, microwave, satellite, IT, and tenant installations.
  • Must be able to install and remove rack equipment weighing 25-50 pounds with the help of another employee.
