About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced IT Director to join our client’s leadership team in the pharmaceutical industry in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Reporting directly to the CEO/President, this is a strategic and hands-on role responsible for shaping the company’s technology vision and ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of all IT systems and infrastructure. This is an exciting opportunity for an IT leader who thrives in regulated environments and wants to make a direct impact on a growing organization. Experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, manufacturing, or other regulated industries is a plus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive IT experience, with at least 3 years in a Director, Manager, or senior leadership role.
  • Proven expertise in IT infrastructure, network management, and cybersecurity.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems implementation and administration.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks applicable to regulated industries (e.g., 21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience leading digital transformation or software development initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to present complex technical concepts to executive leadership.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred given the Puerto Rico operational environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
  • Industry experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, or manufacturing environments.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, PMP, ITIL, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with GxP systems and validation processes in regulated industries.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the company’s IT strategy in alignment with business goals, reporting directly to the CEO/President.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and management of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and cloud environments.
  • Lead cybersecurity initiatives and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory frameworks, including 21 CFR Part 11 and HIPAA.
  • Manage and optimize ERP systems and business applications to improve operational efficiency across departments.
  • Direct the IT Help Desk function, ensuring high levels of service delivery and end-user support.
  • Drive digital transformation and software development initiatives to modernize processes and enhance competitiveness.
  • Manage IT vendor relationships, service contracts, and technology budgets.
  • Build, mentor, and lead an IT team; define team structure and staffing needs as the organization grows.
  • Establish and enforce IT policies, procedures, and disaster recovery/business continuity plans.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to identify technology solutions that address business challenges.
