IT Data Center Technician (MSIC)
About The Position
COLSA Corporation is seeking a hands-on Data Center Technician to support the Missile and Space Intelligence Center (MSIC) in Huntsville, Alabama. This on-site position is responsible for the physical installation, configuration, maintenance, and lifecycle management of data center infrastructure supporting lab and production environments. The technician works directly with server and infrastructure hardware, supporting equipment layout and rack installation, power distribution, cabling, cooling, and documentation. The role helps ensure data center environments remain organized, reliable, scalable, and operating efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Complete hardware installations, rack integrations, and lifecycle maintenance for servers, network switches, and secure communications assets across fixed facilities and deployable systems.
- Implement and maintain structured fiber and copper cabling solutions in accordance with industry best practices for airflow, signal integrity, cable management, and long-term maintenance.
- Conduct root-cause investigations, diagnostic testing, and real-time troubleshooting for physical-layer connectivity, network outages, hardware failures, and system software deficiencies.
- Assist with lifecycle asset management, maintenance standards, and project-specific inventory tracking to help ensure equipment readiness and avoid downtime during deployments.
- Maintain operational documentation, including topology maps, cable diagrams, and rack configurations; enforce labeling and COMSEC/security compliance standards.
- Perform regular floor audits, monitor environmental and power systems such as PDUs and cooling, and ensure change-control and quality standards are met.
