About The Position

Southwest Power Pool (SPP) is seeking a Summer 2027 IT Intern to join our IT Corporate Applications Team as a Programmer/Developer. In this role, you’ll design, develop, and maintain custom applications (front-end and back-end). These applications include both custom-built and vendor solutions designed to optimize internal customer’s daily operations, improving efficiency, productivity, and success rates. Your work will focus on relationship building and collaboration while honing your application design, development, testing, and deployment skills. These applications are critical to SPP’s daily tasks, compliance obligations, data transfer, and physical security. This internship is a chance to build critical technical skills, collaborate with experienced professionals, and see how your work directly contributes to the operations of a major energy organization.

Requirements

College student entering their senior year working toward a bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related field
3.0 GPA or higher
Interest in programming, software development, and IT systems
An expressed desire to work in the power industry
Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
Eagerness to learn and contribute to real-world IT projects
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Gain hands-on experience with SPP’s IT systems, tools, and software relevant to your role.
Complete assignments under the direction of IT leads and supervisors, supporting areas such as stakeholder committees, settlements, data services, reliability systems, market services, and IT support.
Contribute technical support to help project groups meet critical deadlines.
