About The Position

Duquesne Light Company offers summer internships that provide a hands-on, meaningful employment opportunity in a supportive setting that cultivates learning and collaboration. Duquesne Light’s internship program will provide you with a valuable experience and a solid start to your career in various disciplines. Internships are full-time (40 hours/week), paid, and run for 12 weeks (May-August). Internships are located in Pittsburgh and follow DLH’s Hybrid Work Model. Candidates must be full-time, degree-seeking students enrolled in an accredited college or university. Candidates must be in good academic standing. Candidates must be willing to work the required schedule as defined in the job description. Demonstrated leadership ability through studies, employment or extracurricular activities. Aptitude for problem solving; strong communication skills. DLC's Information Technology (IT) group oversees and protects our critical information technology systems to ensure we are able to utilize the best technology in powering our customers’ lives. The team works to support the needs of both Duquesne Light’s employees and its customers. From troubleshooting daily technical issues to protecting the company’s critical systems, and collaborating with partners across the business on key technology implementations, IT plays a fundamental role in keeping business operations running smoothly and ensuring DLC remains innovative. The IT team is comprised of a range of primary areas, including Corporate Applications, Information Security, Project and Services Management, Technical Services and specialized areas, including Customer Applications and Operations Applications. We are filling multiple positions, and the successful candidate may be considered for several areas of IT including: Operations Applications, Enterprise Applications, Infrastructure, and Architecture.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a BS or MS program in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Management Information Systems, or IT related field.
Demonstrated leadership ability through studies, employment or extracurricular activities.
Aptitude for problem solving.
Strong communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
Must be full-time, degree-seeking students enrolled in an accredited college or university.
Must be in good academic standing.
Must be willing to work the required schedule.
Must be in the immediate Pittsburgh area for the summer.
Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and social media screen.

Responsibilities

Oversee and protect critical information technology systems.
Support the needs of Duquesne Light’s employees and customers.
Troubleshoot daily technical issues.
Protect the company’s critical systems.
Collaborate with partners across the business on key technology implementations.
Work in areas including Operations Applications, Enterprise Applications, Infrastructure, and Architecture.
