About The Position

Duquesne Light Company offers summer internships that provide a hands-on, meaningful employment opportunity in a supportive setting that cultivates learning and collaboration. Duquesne Light’s internship program will provide you with a valuable experience and a solid start to your career in various disciplines. Internships are full-time (40 hours/week), paid, and run for 12 weeks (May-August). Internships are located in Pittsburgh and follow DLH’s Hybrid Work Model (described below). Candidates must be full-time, degree-seeking students enrolled in an accredited college or university. Candidates must be in good academic standing. Candidates must be willing to work the required schedule as defined in the job description. Demonstrated leadership ability through studies, employment or extracurricular activities. Aptitude for problem solving; strong communication skills. The Cybersecurity Intern will support the Office of the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) by assisting with cybersecurity governance, risk management, security operations, compliance, data protection, and/or security awareness initiatives. Working alongside experienced cybersecurity professionals, the intern will gain hands-on exposure to enterprise security programs, participate in security projects, analyze cybersecurity data, support policy and process improvements, and contribute to efforts that protect critical business and operational technology systems. This role provides a unique opportunity to develop practical cybersecurity skills while learning how a modern utility organization manages cyber risk, regulatory compliance, incident response, identity security, and technology resilience.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a BS or MS program in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Management Information Systems, Cybersecurity Analytics and Operations or IT related field.
• Full-time, degree-seeking students enrolled in an accredited college or university.
• Good academic standing.
• Willing to work the required schedule.
• Demonstrated leadership ability through studies, employment or extracurricular activities.
• Aptitude for problem solving.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
• Must be in the immediate Pittsburgh area for the summer.
• Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and social media screen.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with cybersecurity governance, risk management, security operations, compliance, data protection, and/or security awareness initiatives.
• Gaining hands-on exposure to enterprise security programs.
