About The Position

The Information Technology Department is responsible for the administration and maintenance of all the City of Irving’s technology, including servers, computer hardware, mobile devices and phone systems. We use tried and tested technologies to exceed the service expectations of our customers (citizens, businesses and visitors) and improve the efficiency and transparency of our operations. Requirements

  • An Associate degree or equivalent in a related field and three years of job-related experience required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems required.
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain, a valid Texas driver’s license.
  • All applicants will be subject to a criminal history check. A conviction for Class B misdemeanor and above is disqualifying.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with radio programming software and communications test equipment and an FCC license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, installing, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining communications hardware and software used in various fixed wireless communications networks, including P25 communications systems.
  • Installing, maintaining and repairing 12-volt mobile communications equipment, including radios, MDT computers, chargers, lights and sirens, alarms, antennas and related equipment.
  • Providing technical assistance and support to communications system users.
  • Performing routine inspections, testing and preventive maintenance of communications equipment.
  • Maintaining accurate equipment, maintenance and operational records.
  • Responding to communications system outages and other emergency situations as needed.
  • Supporting systems including microwave, base station, multiplexing, fiber, alarm and other related communications equipment.
  • Providing expedient on-call support for emergencies during evening and weekend hours.

Benefits

  • Full Pay Range $35.72 – $50.35 Per Hour
