IT Commercial Lines Summer Internships – Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)
About The Position
This is an 11-week, full-time experience that offers a sneak peek into how I.T. intersects with insurance. Level up your skills and knowledge by diving into your department of choice. Throughout the program, you’ll get a feel for the corporate environment with on-the-job assignments, team projects, exposure to senior leadership & executives, and even a community volunteer day. All of this and more will help you build meaningful relationships throughout the organization. Are you ready to turn your classroom knowledge into real-world impact? Join our Summer Internship Program and work alongside experienced engineers to build innovative software solutions that power the future of insurance. This is your chance to explore cutting-edge technologies like Generative AI, cloud-native development, and modern software engineering practices—all while gaining hands-on experience that will set you apart in your career. Please note, this is a hybrid position, therefore, applicants must be within commuting distance of our Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC location.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (rising juniors or seniors preferred).
- Passion for technology, curiosity to learn, and a drive to build impactful solutions.
- Demonstrated experience in programming languages and a willingness to learn new languages and technologies
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- High School Diploma required.
- College credit can be earned depending on your institution’s requirements.
Nice To Haves
- Ideal internship candidates will be full-time undergraduate college Juniors or Seniors, with the ability to perform at a professional level.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineers to design, build, and test custom software applications that support our Commercial Lines business.
- Contribute to real-world projects using modern tech stacks, cloud platforms, and agile methodologies.
- Explore and experiment with Generative AI tools and APIs to enhance business processes and customer experiences.
- Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and team stand-ups to learn how software is built in a professional environment.
- Work cross-functionally with peers and leaders on an Action Learning Project that addresses a real business challenge.
- Learn about the insurance industry and how technology drives innovation in an Enterprise environment.
- See your work delivered to our users and how it makes a positive impact on our business.
