This role provides vision, strategy, functionality, and technology solutions for creating and maintaining network platforms for public and private cloud infrastructure. It involves designing flexible platforms that deliver services compatible with industry-leading providers while enabling legacy systems to interact safely when necessary. The position conducts technology research, evaluation, development, and delivery throughout infrastructure deployment lifecycles. The engineer works with Information Technology teams to support deployment of technologies that may include PaaS, SaaS, hosted, and on-premises subscriptions. The aim is to provide flexible, secure, on-demand cloud-like functionality and services, improve resiliency, reduce costs, and maintain a secure and flexible environment. The role is intended for a hands-on network engineering professional with deep traditional enterprise networking experience, particularly in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting large-scale Cisco and/or Arista environments. Cloud networking experience is valuable, but the primary emphasis is on enterprise network engineering and operations rather than cloud infrastructure, systems administration, or software development. The position has four classification levels. New hires are placed at the level best matching their experience, credentials, and skills. Higher levels add responsibilities such as primary engineering and subject-matter expertise, strategy and budget contributions, mentoring, automation, capacity planning, technical and project leadership, and advising management.
