About The Position

Promote high quality cost effective medical care, patient satisfaction, and healthcare provider/staff satisfaction throughout Huntsville Hospital by facilitating the efficient use of computers and clinical information technologies. Responsibilities include: In collaboration with the CNO, Nurse Managers for Patient Care Services, Ancillary Department Mangers/Directors, the Director of Information Services, and the CIO, provides leadership and strategic direction for clinical informatics programs for patient services and related programs. Serve as interface with the clinical staff, appropriate departments and committees for the purpose of ensuring coordination in planning, development, implementation and ongoing support of new and existing clinical informatics initiatives. Responsible for the overall coordination, implementation and support of clinical informatics changes and services, particularly to address the clinical needs of the patients and support the practice of the clinical staff. Contribute to the development and execution of strategies to move Huntsville Hospital toward a fully integrated computerized patient record. Incorporates the organization's strategic objectives for patient care in the management and evaluation of the organization's clinical information systems.

Requirements

  • Require recent experience in a clinical setting required.
  • Ability to adapt to new situations, set priorities, and utilize problem-solving techniques with minimal direction and appropriate collaboration.
  • Excellent ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of diverse individuals and groups both internal and external to organization.
  • Interpersonal skills for effective interactions with user department managers and staff.
  • Excellent project management skills, including facilitation and coordination of cross-organizational work groups or teams.
  • Consensus builder with the ability to see and understand multiple perspectives, and drive the diverse needs toward a common view of clinical information technologies usage.
  • Demonstrated strong verbal, written and behavioral communication skills.
  • Ability to evaluate patient care processes, redesign and implement more effective patient care processes.
  • Ability to manage a stressful work environment.
  • Ability to proactively manage resources and workload to accomplish goals.
  • Clearly understand and describe the clinical process of patient in a healthcare setting from admission to discharge.
  • Understand and describe the varying clinical roles that provide patient care in our healthcare organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to utilize email, Pulse, and internet resources.
  • Require Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer Masters degree from an accredited college of university in a clinical discipline (i.e. nursing, pharmacy, medical technology).
  • Preferred candidate will be an RN with working knowledge of information technologies.
  • Healthcare information system or related information system experience preferred.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of current clinical information technology and applications preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with clinical information systems.
  • Multiple years experience in managing or working in a clinical informatics setting strongly preferred.
  • Current knowledge of Healthcare issues, JCAHO requirements, HIPAA requirements, trends, and needs related to nursing a plus.
