About The Position

The Information Systems and Business Analyst plays a vital role in supporting student success and the university’s mission through business process analysis, systems support, and data reporting for the Office of the Registrar. This position is a key partner to faculty, staff and administrators by managing and supporting the PeopleSoft Student Module, related portals, and third-party software integrations critical to academic and student services across the university. The Analyst plays a key role in the planning, implementation, maintenance, and support of Registrar’s Office technology systems, including software, and data processes. This position participates in the analysis and evaluation of business processes in the Office of the University Registrar, working closely with the Registrar’s Office team, ITS, Enrollment and Retention, and campus partners to improve system functionality, maintain data security, and support efficient operations. The Business Systems Analyst III works with the University Registrar staff to ensure excellent customer service to prospective students and the University community by performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience handling confidential information.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work within deadlines.
  • Experience with reporting software (e.g. Tableau).
  • Experience with Excel and/or SQL.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience analyzing and improving business processes.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft systems.
  • Experience testing and debugging software applications.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge of PeopleSoft security features and functionality.
  • Work with ITS to ensure data security and appropriate role access.
  • Manage student information system access for employees based on job responsibilities.
  • Develop, prepare, and distribute reports related to enrollment, credit hours, degrees awarded, academic standing, and other student data.
  • Maintain reporting schedule and send reports for federal, state, and institutional reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with Institutional Research and campus partners regarding student information and reporting needs.
  • Develop and maintain procedures to ensure the integrity of student data and records.
  • Coordinate with other department business analysts and ITS regarding system maintenance, development, and user access.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of system interfaces impacting student records, including Financial Aid, Admissions, and Student Financials, including documentation of technical procedures and system processes to support efficient operations.
  • Participates in requirements planning and feasibility determination
  • Works on tasks including project or functional requirements, functional design, functional configuration, testing, and documentation
  • Manage online and batch processes for third-party software and student data integrations.
  • Assist senior staff in developing strategic approaches to problem-solving and anticipating issues
  • Participate in staff meetings, committees, and departmental projects.
  • Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and campus partners, including training and serving as a resource for non-routine problems, processes and policies.
  • Work collaboratively with the university community to support departmental and institutional goals.
  • Participate in training, conferences, and professional development opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • May function in project capacities including requirements gathering, functional design, functional configuration, testing, and documentation
  • Determines and recommends programs required for optimal problem solution within cost/performance objectives
  • Participates in requirements planning and feasibility determination
  • Works on tasks including project or functional requirements, functional design, functional configuration, testing, and documentation
  • Performs analyses and prepares reports to ensure that programs meet or exceed schedule commitments
  • Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements
  • Trains, serves as a resource, and provides guidance to other IT business analysts on non-routine problems, processes, and policies
  • Assists senior staff in developing strategic approaches to problem-solving and anticipating issues
  • Devises or modifies complex information systems including analysis of business and user needs, documenting requirements, and revising existing system logic difficulties as necessary
