About The Position

Trinity Industries is seeking a hands-on IT Asset Program Manager to lead both the administration of engineering applications and the governance of our IT Asset Management (ITAM) program across manufacturing operations based in Dallas, TX. You will ensure that critical engineering systems are stable, secure, and optimized — while also owning the integrity, accuracy, and governance of the IT asset estate (hardware and software) within our CMDB, which resides in our ITSM platform. This role partners closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Service Desk, and Asset Owners to ensure operational excellence and asset governance discipline. This is an ideal role for someone who combines strong technical systems administration skills with disciplined data governance and lifecycle management expertise.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in computer science, information technology/CIS or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • 8+ years administering engineering applications (CAD/CAE/PLM or similar) in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in IT Asset Management (ITAM) covering both hardware and software assets.
  • Strong Windows workstation administration experience.
  • Role-based access control and directory integrations (AD/SSO).
  • Server fundamentals, virtualization concepts, and storage/network basics.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with business and IT stakeholders.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and governing a CMDB within an ITSM platform (e.g., ServiceNow, Ivanti, JIRA, or similar).
  • Experience managing asset lifecycle processes (procurement, deployment, refresh, transfer, retirement).
  • Experience performing asset inventory reconciliation (system-of-record vs. physical vs. discovery).
  • Experience managing software asset tracking and license reconciliation.
  • Working knowledge of asset data standards, CI relationships, and service mapping principles.
  • Experience supporting audit readiness and compliance documentation.
  • Strong data governance discipline with demonstrated commitment to inventory accuracy.
  • Ability to translate policy requirements into operational controls and enforce asset standards across distributed environments.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, configure, and support engineering systems (e.g., CAD/CAE/PLM, model management, visualization tools, data translators).
  • Manage user provisioning, role-based access, integrations, and configuration baselines.
  • Monitor application health, performance, and job queues; troubleshoot incidents and coordinate remediation with vendors and infrastructure teams.
  • Lead upgrade and patch cycles, regression testing, and change communications.
  • Develop and maintain documentation including runbooks, SOPs, configuration standards, and support guides.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to optimize workflows, templates, libraries, and automation where applicable.
  • Ensure applications align with cybersecurity and infrastructure standards.
  • You will be responsible for the overall IT asset estate within the CMDB housed in our ITSM platform.
  • Own the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of all hardware and software asset records within the CMDB.
  • Ensure required asset attributes are consistently maintained (asset ID, owner, CI class, location, lifecycle status, warranty/support dates, vendor, cost center, relationships, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate relationships between assets, configuration items (CIs), and dependent services.
  • Ensure hardware and software assets are properly classified and governed according to enterprise standards.
  • Govern asset lifecycle processes from acquisition through deployment, maintenance, refresh, transfer, and disposal.
  • Ensure asset onboarding, reassignment, refreshing, and decommission activities are accurately reflected in the CMDB.
  • Coordinate with Procurement, Service Desk, Infrastructure, and plant teams to enforce intake and tagging standards.
  • Support physical inventory validation and reconciliation activities.
  • Maintain accurate software entitlement and deployment tracking.
  • Perform recurring reconciliations of hardware and software inventory.
  • Coordinate renewals, true-ups, and vendor interactions related to asset records.
  • Identify compliance gaps and remediation actions.
  • Support internal and external audits related to IT asset inventory and lifecycle controls.
  • Enforce policy-aligned asset management practices.
  • Identify data quality gaps and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure asset inventory supports cybersecurity risk management and operational reporting.
