The IT Architect will be responsible for designing, developing, analyzing, and maintaining the overall system architecture, potentially including cloud environments. This role involves coordinating the design and integration of complete solutions comprising multiple commercial and custom subsystems. The architect will maintain in-depth knowledge of emerging technologies to enhance system reliability, performance, and functionality, and develop specifications for new products and services. They will research and recommend technologies to improve current systems and meet future mission needs, perform system design and programming, and ensure correct database configuration. Additionally, the IT Architect will provide best practices for identity management, access controls, and credential integration for multi-factor authentication (MFA), and offer technical support and modifications to ensure optimal network performance. This role also includes managing the planning and installation of hardware and software for INL systems, working with stakeholders to identify requirements, and modeling business scenarios. The architect will develop customizations to integrate applications and federate services, and be responsible for technical planning, architecture development, and specification modification to meet performance, scalability, reliability, and security needs. They will utilize engineering knowledge to test and deploy systems, and provide support to technical resources. Testing and conflict analysis on new systems will be performed, with results provided to support organizational business objectives. The IT Architect will also provide technical direction and mentoring to junior staff, coach and train members on standards and tools, and document best practices. Ensuring efficient and appropriate utilization of management systems through an architectural approach is also a key responsibility. Other duties as assigned.
