About The Position

The Nebraska Department of Labor has a great opportunity to join our Information Technology (IT) team as an IT Applications Developer Sr. This position will work extensively with all aspects of our evolving Data Warehouse. As your experience, skills and familiarity with the business grow, you will touch all steps of the life cycle process to incorporate new data sources and provide beneficial data/statistics to our stakeholders to help improve business efficiencies and help eliminate suspected fraud. This is an on-site position in Lincoln, Nebraska. All interviews will be conducted in-person. Please include a personalized cover letter with your application. If the candidate selected doesn’t qualify for the IT Applications Developer Sr level, the position may be filled as an IT Applications Developer at a lower standard rate until qualifications are met for the senior level. Hire rate for the IT Application Developer Sr is $35.267. Hire rate for the IT Application Developer is $29.348

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering or other related field and two years of experience, education, or training in coding computer applications; programming experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis.

  • Coordinate with the State OCIO to test new platforms for data server upgrades.
  • Using software tools, test migrations of data to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Evaluate new software to upgrade or lifecycle current platform.
  • Effectively use query language SQL Plus and SQL Developer to access and query data and objects.
  • Define data repository requirements, data dictionaries, and warehousing requirements.
  • Develop plans for database implementation, data source integration, data archiving and recovery.
  • Work closely with State OCIO data managers to ensure data availability on the network
  • Maintain a current understanding of the business environment supported to provide expert guidance for technical, business, and operational impacts associated with a project or production problem
  • Ensure agency data is organized and maintained in acceptable formats to ensure availability, speed, and integrity.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships between data elements to ensure accessibility and optimization.
  • Ensure proper configurations are set on databases to protect sensitive agency data containing Personally Identifiable Information (PII), Federal Tax Information ((FTI), Social Security Information (SSA), National Directory of New Hires (NDNH) and bank account information.
  • Writes SQL queries to produce reports, validate data, or integrate with applications.
  • Works with other IT teams to ensure databases are available and optimized to work for all applications and reports.
  • Establish and check principle of least privilege (PoLP) to ensure users and systems have access the minimum amount of data and resources needed to perform their tasks.
  • Evaluate, design, review and implement databases to serve the agency business need.
