About The Position

The Public Safety IT Delivery Center is searching for a motivated person with strong attention to detail to join our team as a Senior Applications Developer. This position gives you the opportunity to help shape critical systems that support public safety across Pennsylvania by guiding improvements, solving complex issues, and supporting teams that depend on reliable technology. In this role, you will serve as the supervisor and technical lead worker within the Public Safety IT Delivery Center, Enterprise Applications Section, Applications Support Unit. You will be responsible for providing technical leadership in the development, maintenance, and improvement of complex applications used by public safety agencies. Work involves coordinating development work, supporting system updates, and communicating with teams to meet user needs.

Requirements

  • One year as an Applications Developer 2 or Computer Programmer 4 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Five years of information technology experience that includes three years of experience in applications development or applications maintenance; or Three years of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, and an associate’s degree in any information technology field; or One year of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, and a bachelor's degree in any information technology field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development, maintenance, and debugging of complex automated systems for public safety agencies
  • Support and enhance the Traffic Crash System (TraCS) application and related modules that operate continuously across the state
  • Resolve technical issues received through help desk requests and analyze system performance concerns
  • Maintain and update interfaces that connect applications with external agencies and statewide systems
  • Manage server tasks such as installing certificates, updating software, and configuring system settings
  • Provide guidance to less experienced developers in programming languages and system tools

  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. You will be required to report in-office on Thursday and Friday each week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
