About The Position

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is seeking an IT Applications Developer – MMIS to play a key role in developing and supporting the mainframe systems that power critical Medicaid services. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented developer with COBOL expertise who enjoys solving complex production issues, enhancing system performance, and contributing to large-scale development efforts in a structured mainframe environment. Requirements

Experience, education, or training in coding computer applications.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree in computer programming or similar area.
Experience developing and testing COBOL programs.
Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases.

Responsibilities

Perform development, maintenance, and production support for the state’s mainframe Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS).
Work with business analysts, senior developers, and Medicaid program staff to implement efficient technical solutions to business needs.
Write, debug, document, and test COBOL/DB2/CICS programs in a mainframe environment.
Analyze and resolve production issues.
Create detailed system design documents for system enhancement projects.
Assist senior application developers in large, complex development projects.
Maintain technical documentation.
