About the position
The IT Application and Systems Engineer will play a crucial role in implementing and supporting hardware and software solutions across various functional areas within a rapidly growing organization. This position will directly contribute to the development of gene therapy manufacturing facilities in North Carolina, supporting Beam's ability to advance therapies. The engineer will collaborate with the Director, IT Business Partner – Technical Operations and other Beam IT teams to deliver new projects and support existing solutions. They will also serve as a key point of contact for onsite IT systems, working closely with internal teams and external vendors.
Responsibilities
- Provide project and operational support for new and existing IT systems at the Beam NC site
- Install, configure, and maintain SaaS, on-premise, and hybrid solutions, adhering to GxP validation and Quality standards
- Define requirements for IT hardware and software solutions to enhance and support processes onsite
- Support other members of the Beam Information Technology team
- Lead efforts to improve Technical Operations business processes through integration of IT systems
- Serve as primary or secondary system owner for selected IT systems
- Provide on-call support for IT systems issues during manufacturing operations
- Work onsite
Requirements
- Experience in implementing and supporting hardware and software solutions
- Familiarity with gene therapy manufacturing facilities
- Ability to work with IT teams to support existing solutions and deliver new projects
- Proficiency in requirements gathering, technology selection, and hands-on solution delivery
- Knowledge of IT systems and ability to provide support for onsite systems
- Experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining SaaS, on-premise, and hybrid solutions
- Understanding of GxP validation and Quality standards
- Ability to define requirements for IT hardware and software solutions
- Knowledge of Technical Operations business processes and ability to integrate IT systems to improve them
- Willingness to provide on-call support for IT systems issues during manufacturing operations
- Ability to work onsite

- Experience with network infrastructure, virtualization and SAN, barcode scanners and printers, SAP Basis, and QC lab IT systems
