About The Position

Performs skilled technical work assessing, analyzing, and implementing technology solutions, managing business applications and technology infrastructure, including communications, camera systems, and software. Installs, configures, and maintains computing environments, user devices, and enterprise software across the organization. Provides end-user support for business and public safety technology systems. This position is designated as essential during emergency or disaster events. Work is performed under general supervision from the IT Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with coursework in information technology, computer science, or related field, and moderate experience (3-5 years) in technical support, application administration, server and network administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers, related software applications, hardware, and peripheral equipment.
  • Thorough knowledge of data processing procedures for machine production of records and decision-making information.
  • General knowledge of the operations, characteristics, and requirements of a computer configuration.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Azure, SharePoint, and Office 365 suite.
  • General knowledge of public safety operations and protocols.
  • General knowledge of radio management and programming concepts
  • General knowledge of networks and network architecture.
  • General knowledge of security baselines and practices such as PCI, CJIS, and HIPPA.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve user and system problems.
  • Ability to train others in computer hardware and software applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in written form.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and vendors.
  • Ability to exhibit good security hygiene.
  • Project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to perform work during emergency or disaster situations upon request and as assigned by management.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Town officials, associates, consultants, outside agencies, and the public.

Nice To Haves

  • CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+ certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses organizational business needs to determine, implement, and support appropriate technology solutions.
  • Manages and participates in IT projects and cross-departmental initiatives to deliver technological products and services that meet organizational requirements.
  • Develops and maintains documentation, training materials, and user guides for IT and public safety systems.
  • Collaborates with public safety leadership to align technology solutions with operational needs.
  • Maintains and supports public safety applications and systems including CAD, RMS, mobile data collection, and associated hardware and software, including in-vehicle systems, video surveillance, and radio communications infrastructure.
  • Supports and provides training for line-of-business and enterprise productivity applications.
  • Performs audits and tests on computer systems, networks, and hardware to ensure proper functionality.
  • Ensures compliance with CJIS and other federal/state data security and reporting standards.
  • Promotes and demonstrates organizational culture, core values, and leadership philosophies consistent with, or complementary to, Town administration.
  • Adheres to policies and procedures established by the Town.
