About The Position

The IT Analyst II will analyze needs, implement standards, provide training, and maintain computer desktop systems. Conducts feasibility studies on microcomputer applications and equipment to replace and/or enhance current systems. The incumbent works in conjunction with other appropriate IT staff members in developing and carrying out standards that keep the network secure. The incumbent will assist and train customers on products as a standard operation from the wall (active network jacks) to the desktop, including printers (responsible for printer administration from the server to the printer) and all peripherals. Recommends any changes in standard equipment used in the department and signs off on the purchase of the recommended software to ensure that any hardware purchased is within standards. Maintains endpoint device inventory (including desktops, laptops, tablets, etc.), utilize desktop client management tools to deploy packages and maintain virus protection on endpoint devices. Must also maintain and support mobile devices used by the department. The incumbent is responsible for installation of all desktop units and peripherals including software and printers. Must develop and maintain a good relationship with the Customer Support Specialist and keep the Help Desk abreast of any concerns or problems. Must also work with the Electronic Controls Engineer as needed to deploy and support endpoint devices in the SCADA/OT Network. The incumbent is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, year round on a rotational basis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related field AND 1 year of experience in computer operations or in providing technical computer support.
  • Associate's degree in Computer Science or a closely related field AND 3 years of experience in computer operations or in providing technical computer support.
  • High School diploma (or G.E.D.) AND 5 years of experience in computer operations or in providing technical computer support.
  • Must possess at least 1 of the listed certifications at time of application (for non-degreed applicants).
  • Degree must be from a college or university that is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Higher Learning Commission or equivalent region.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter.
  • Applications must specifically address each of the minimum qualifications, directly showing how each is met.
  • Must pass a background investigation.
  • Must pass a job-related medical examination including drug screen.
  • Must pass a nicotine screening.
  • Must remain tobacco and nicotine free as a condition of continued employment (does not apply to current City employees).

Responsibilities
